Spinoff to Registry Question...

...We're getting married in October, when do we put up our registry, also, is my Bridal Shower a seperate registry than our wedding registry? We don't really need anything and would honestly prefer the cash so what do we do???

I have never heard of a bridal registry. I always thought most people give cash at the wedding or if they don;t want to give cash they pull whatever is left off of your shower registry.

you can totally start making it now. its just one registry they call it wedding but typically you will get gifts for your shower from it (we have still been getting late engagement gifts tho!). you may get some wedding gifts from it later, but in NY I thinkit is more common to get $$$ for wedding gifts.

You can start registering now, but don't register for bedding, towels, curtains or stuff like that until a couple of months before when you 'beleive' your shower is coming up. They tend to only have those things in for limited times and then you're left with empty spots on the registry.
When we were registering, we thought we didn't need much either but decided that becuase we knew certain things would break over time, we'd just register for them now and if we get them, we'll just store it in the attic or at his parents till its needed.
This really came in handy, cause just before our very informal e-party, our toaster oven broke (which we use more than the regular oven) so my borther and sister got us a new one we registered for.
BTW, If anyone needs a good toaster oven, Delonghi makes excellent ones. My FH had his for over 10 years and it was abused, lol.

When you register you can put the links on your wedding website but they also give you registry cards to put in your invites so your guests know where to shop.

a lot of places will give you something to put in the invitation to your shower so everyone invited knows where youre registered... or you can just write in the invitation...

registered at ... bbb, macys, target, etc... they can find your registry by your name

well, we put ours on our website along with hotel info, etc and just sent the our wedding website out to friends and family we have e-mails for so they new the dates and hotel stuff.

BuT YES! you will give whoever is planning your shower all your resgistry info and/or wedding site and they will include it in the shower invitations so your shower guests know where to go!

Your registry (wedding/bridal = same thing) is for your shower. BUT people also get things off your registry for bdays and holidays.

Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...

We registered pretty soon after getting engaged (april '09) because we people wanted to send gifts and kept asking us what we wanted.
