St. Agnes, Rockville Centre
Is anyone using this church for their ceremony? I see it from the LIRR everyday on the way to work, and it looks BEAUTIFUL. The only thing is I'm Presbyterian, while my fiancee is Catholic. Do you think that would pose a problem in having the ceremony there? Thanks!!!!

Some info on St. Agnes for you...
Yes, you are right it is a beautiful church however, they have some rules. I live in RVC and my husband grew up here and went to St. Agnes - they are very strict with who can get married there. I had to call three times and explain that he grew up in RVC and went to the school was an alter boy and the lady on the phone in her exact words said 'I don't know if that will cut it' Well anyway, to make a long story short we were finally told we could get married there - at the end we chose a different church b/c you couldn't pick the time they have set times for example (the 10:30 was an open slot) and that's what I was given - it was to early - so I went with St. Killians who asked us when we want the ceremony to start - well this is what I know - however, if you can get around it good luck and yes - if they had the time I wanted - I would have loved to have gotten married there - I have seen pictues of the church when I went to photographers and they were amazing.

Yes, I am getting married there next May. I used to live in Rockville Centre before my fiance and I bought our house, but I still wanted to get married there. I was born and raised as a Catholic and I am a registered parishoner at St. Agnes. We are having Fr. Brian marry us. We just finished the in-house PreCana program. We are now working with the music department in selecting our music for the ceremony. I don't think the fact that you are Presbyterian will have an effect on you marrying in the Church as long as your fiance is a Catholic. My fiance is also Presbyterian (Protestant), and they just asked him if he planned on raising the children in the Catholic faith, which we had already discussed and decided to do, so it wasn't a problem. However, I think that if you or your fiance are not registered parishoners of the parish, you may find it difficult to get married there. Since it is a huge (and beautiful Church as you said), they do lots of weddings. We went in January 2000 to pick our date, and for a Saturday, it was over a year wait to get an available date. But I know people to have been married there that were not parishoners, so it is defintely possible. I do believe you pay a lot more to the Church in terms of fees though. They have a web site you can look at and find some phone numbers, but it's worth a shot. It is a gorgeous Cathedral, and it has one of the longest center aisles of any Church in the US (so be prepared for a long processional up the aisle!!). www.stagnescathedral.org Email me if you need more specifics, and Good Luck!!
