do you belong to the alumni association. Do you donate? If so, how do you claim it on your taxes?

I went there. I do not donate any money. Im still paying off my loans just to attend! LOL

It's the same as giving a charitable donation to an organization like the Red Cross or the American Cancer Society.
Also, if there is something specific you want to donate to (say, the music department, or scholarships for women) write that on your check or enclose a note with it.

DH is an alumni (class of 95).. We get the magazine every month, but no donations have been made.
