well maybe they are not accepting of inter-faith marriages

I had to promise that i would raise my children as yankee fans so our church would accept my FH

LOL... who knows the way this is going maybe desperate times will call for desperate measures.

Re: St. Mary's Church in Roslyn - would not let me get married there

Yeah... the more I am reading about the strictness of the Roman Catholic churches... the more I am getting turned off by them.

I am not very religious... so I am just looking for a ceremony anyways... not a full mass.

My FSIL just got married in a Lutheran church I believe. Maybe i'll have my FW ask her about that. I don't think her sister was actually Lutheran.

I have a few places to call tomorrow, some from this thread... and a few others i found from doing a search.

CW post did seem nice but they had nothing for me. If I do the historical chapel... the earliest they can give me is 5pm... and my CH starts at 7pm. I am not thrilled about a 2hr layover (I would prefer 3 - I want to get plenty of day pictures before the sun sets).

Oh...my mistake i thought you were contemplating switching teams....

But as far as the church thing...It is ALLL about money for some places...I wanted to get married in the church that my FH's mom grew up in, that i had attended for over 7 years, where my FH was friggin baptized and they said NO (FH & i are not a residents of that town)!
My FBIL & FSIL wanted to baptize their son at the same church (nboth not residents...never even went to a friggin mass) gave them some extra money and a baptism there was

Re: St. Mary's Church in Roslyn - would not let me get married there

djpill---

i'm getting married at church of saint aidan (roman catholic) in williston park, which is about 20 mins. away from woodbury area.

i'm catholic, but not a parishioner of their church, i didn't really like the church i attended growing up.

anyways, they had no problems with me not being a parishioner there.

try giving them a call and good luck...

Re: St. Mary's Church in Roslyn - would not let me get married there

We're getting married at the Community Church of East Williston.

It's a Christian Church. It's the old stone Church with the big stained glass window on the corner of Roslyn ROad and Hillside Ave. Just a bit west of Glen Cove Road.

It's a bit expensive but they have been so wonderful to work with and it's beautiful.
