St. Thomas Anyone?????

I'm trying to decide on a honeymoon... I thought my choice was going to be between the Bahamas and Aruba, BUT NOW I've been searching around and came across St. Thomas... it looks GORGEOUS there! Anyone ever been there or going there??? I'm particularily interested in the Wyndham Beach Resort... But of course ANY feedback will be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

i was considering it. i did a lot of reasearch and many people say that marriott's morningstar resort is great. we decided against it b/c someone told my fiance that there is not much to do at night. i dont know about that. i was there for a cruise for one day and loved it. also consider staying at or stopping by st. john. its less to do there but its 2/3 national park and very beautiful i hear.

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

It is beautiful. I went there for stop on a cruise that stopped at five islands and it was the loveliest island. My brother spent his honeymoon on the neighboring St. Johns. I've never been there, but its supposedly less populated (hence more privacy) than St. Thomas, but just as beautiful. Good luck!

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

Thank you so much... I didn't even come across a Marriott, I will have to check it out! And I will definately check out that night life situation! Thanks again!

PS - yes I heard about St. John... supposed to be beautiful, I BELIEVE there is a ferry that takes you over there from St. Thomas.

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

This is on FH and I's top 2 list of honeymoon ideas. It looks heavenly!!

The travel agent suggested we break it up, maybe 5 days on St. Thomas (because there is more to do there) and 2 or 3 on St. John.

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

Went to St. Thomas and St. John on a cruise in Sept. St. Thomas had beautiful beaches but I heard the crime rate is pretty high there. St. John is beautiful and we definitley plan to go back there.

But they are both poor areas -- the coast is where all the pretty spots are -- interior is not as nice.

I've never been to Aruba but have heard wonderful things.

If you plan to spend most of your time at a resort it probably doens't really matter where you are as long as the resort is nice as well as the beach. I think any of your choices would be lovely!

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

You can also go to the British Islands near by as well. My sis went to visit a couple of Brit islands not sure the names. I can find out for you. She visited family friends but they went to the Wyndham and the Ritz for the day and thought they were beautiful! They did recommend not visiting St Croix as it was dangerous. St John was another one of their stops and it was gorgeous from the pics that I saw. You can easily get there by ferry from St Thomas.

Re: St. Thomas Anyone?????

My FH and I went to St. Thomas for vacation and we loved it! We stayed at the Ritz Carlton (got a great deal!) but there are a bunch of other resorts there that are nice, such as the Marriot. We took the ferry to St. John for a day and the beaches there are beautiful - Trunk Bay and Megan's Bay!! If you're going to stay on St. John check out the Westin! As for the nightlife on St. Thomas, there are a lot of restaurants and some bars. There is a place there that has dancing and it's a fun small place - Duffy's Shack I think it's called. That was our best vacation and we would definitely go back!

Virgin Gorda and Tortola are the two British Virgin Islands my sis visited. She loved the Baths in Virgin Gorda.

St. Thomas

I have been there when we went on our cruise. St Thomas was one of the stops. It was nice. If you do go there, you HAVE to go visit St. John. It is a 20 min. boat ride. It is the MOST BEAUITFUL island I have been to.

Re: St. Thomas

I guess I am the bad apple here...I didn't care for St. Thomas. St. John was so much nicer.
Very poor place & had drug dealers follwing when we came off the ferry at night from St. John. I was scared.
The only thing I liked there was the shopping.
St John is soooo different, more beautiful & more classy, JMO
To stop on a cruise is nice but to stay there is a different story
