Start time on the invitations?
We're getting married at the venue - what time goes on the invitation??Someone said to me...if the wedding starts at 11am, put 1030am.
Seems a little overkill? Thoughts?

I don't think it is. You have to account for the stragglers who have a tendency of always being late. We put our start time 30 min earlier also.

Start time on the invitations?
My ceremony starts at 1 and I put down 1. If I put 12:30 then people will show up at 12 and then they will just be sitting there for 45 mins - an hour with nothing to do and then wondering why it's not starting at 12:30. We are also taking pictures up until 12:30 and I don't want people seeing me before I walk down the aisle. If people can't get there on time for your special day, then sucks for them for missing the ceremony!

This. I know people think, oh they'll interrupt the ceremony by walking in late. But, no one's going to be looking at them. I would hope everyone is focused on the marrying that's going on, lol. It's their loss if they missed you walking down the aisle. I don't want people showing up early. I put the exact start time on the invite, but I know at least two family members who are ALWAYS early and will probably be there by 630. If I put 630 on the invite, they'd be there at 6 and I just can't have it, lol.

Start time on the invitations?
We put the actual start time of the ceremony on our invitation, not 30 minutes earlier.

We're doing a half an hour of hospitality as well. So the invite time is 4, our wedding will start at 4:30. People will come in late, so it's good to build that time in. Plus, who cares of people come half an hour early? That's fine, let me sit in the room and wait for you!

I didn't put any extra time. If I were the guest who was late, I might not even go. Or I would drive by/walk in to see if it was already started. I would hope people know not to interrupt if they are late. I just know when I am a guest that if they say the ceremony starts at 2:45, I am going to plan to get there at 2:30...I mean movie theaters or broadway shows don't tell you 15 minutes before the show starts.

Love this!!! You are so right. There is no reason why anyone would show up to a wedding EXACTLY on time. I always plan to be a little early for everything, no matter to occassion. My FMIL wanted me to put the start time a half hour early, but she is the type that gets places a half hour early anyway which means she will get there an hour early!

We are going to put 7pm it starts at 7:30. We are lucky and our venue is doing a hospitality hour for those that come too early where they will serve champagne and cold hor de vours (sp?)

This, we also put the time the ceremony starts since we are getting married at the venue and taking pictures there. Some people it doesn't matter what time you tell them, they will be late.

Start time on the invitations?
We put the actual time from word of mouth and common etiquette people should arrive early and if we don't start at exactly six I am ok with that bc cocktail hour is immediately following

I agree.. But there's always one @$$h0le who gets there late and they're all 'ummm excuse me, excuse me. Sorry, excuse me' all the way to the middle of the row and I miss what's happening in the previews for the millionth James Bond movie. The doors to the church will be guarded at 3:01. NO LATE PEOPLE ALLOWED!!!!!!
