For those girls trying to drop a few pounds before the big day, how do you keep yourself on track when you feel you're starting to fall off?
I've lost quite a bit of weight but I sitll have a year and a half till my day and I'm afraid I'll start to put it back on especially since the past few weeks I've really really fallen off the track! Help! TIA

Re: Staying on track
I found that if you ween yourself off major carbs like bread, pizza, pasta sugary drinks like fruit juice which tends to have alot of sugar in them you'll soon not crave those things anymore. Just keep yourself disiplined. I know it's hard.. trust me we all do! Just drink lots of water and try not to eat bread, etc.
You'll be fine!

maybe try keeping a picture of your dress on the fridge and a copy of it with you so you know why you're working so hard?

Ok so if you don't have a dress yet.. how about posting a picture of a fitness model or something on your dresser so you can look at it and it will motivate you !! That's a good idea!

Yea that just might work! Or maybe I'll try and find a 'dream wedding gown' being worn by a tiny model and carry that around!

Go girl go!!! You can do it!!! Let's be hot ,skinny brides!!!!
I just look down at my fat rolls! That always seems to deter me from the cookie!!
I think the best thing is if you do decide to induldge here and there then you have to accept the fact that you did it. If you beat yourself up over it then you become guilty and eat more.

When I feel like i am going to fall off...I just picture me in my wedding dress...and then I start to get back on focus...

Honestly I think the best way is to start cutting certain things out of your diet before you start getting strict with what you are eating. I can't tell you how long it has been since I had Pizza or LoMein (My favorite). Find a type of exercise you love doing. Then at least you know you will do that everyday if nothing else. Most important stay motivated. Remember what you are doing it for.
I have been one atkins for like a week and a half now. I have lost about 5-7 lbs. Last time I was on it (a year ago) I lost 25 in three months.

Re: Staying on track
I have to disagree with some ladies, sorry girls, nothing personal.
But if you cut out everything you enjoy you probably won't stick with your diet. I've been doing Jenny Craig since January and I've lost 25 pounds and about 20 inches. During the week I am strict with my portions and what I eat, but on the weekends I eat what I can't have during the week. One of my favorite splurges is Taco Bell. Everyweekend I don't stick that strictly to my diet and I have still been losing and keeping my weight down.
Don't deny yourself of the things you love, just don't eat them everyday. And watch your portions. You can stick with it, I know you can!!!

WW is GREAT!!! I've lost 18lbs so far, but I'm having such a hard time staying focused (Im a sucker for BBQ). I recommend going to an actual center rather than doing it online, you may see better results faster. FM if you need any tips!
I totally agree with not cutting out the foods you love. Thats why WW is so great. You can still eat all of the things you love you just have to learn to portion it out.
Good luck and have fun with it!!

Re: Staying on track
I try to weigh myself once a week. I stopped for a few weeks and after 2 weddings, and several over-indulgent happy hours decided to weigh myself the other day. I put on 5 pounds over the summer - that's motivation enough for me to get my azz back to the gym.
Also, I started WW several years ago. I don't go to the meetings anymore and rarely keep track of my points (except for times like now ), but it really taught me how to eat properly and keep things in moderation. Since my heaviest I've lost over 35 pounds, and have kept it over for several years now.

Re: Staying on track
I have been walking on the treadmill every morning when I wake up. I started to eat breakfast (which I have never done before). I eat a 'bigger' lunch, and a 'smaller' dinner, and I cut out anything white. I do this everyday except on Sunday I allow myself to cheat on one meal. So this way if I am craving pasta, I will have it Sunday for dinner, or if I want ice cream I will have it Sunday during the day sometime. I do this so I don't deprive myself of the things I really love and it is kind of like rewarding myself for a great week. It has worked! I lost about 10 pounds since the 4th of July by doing this.
Good Luck with whatever diet you decide to do, but stay focused! Don't ruin what you have done so far. You will be so happy on your big day!

Re: Staying on track
I think it's different for everyone so whatever works for any one person can't be wrong. You just have to take all the suggestions, try them out, see what works.
The way I did it was to really gradually change the bad habits. Drinking water instead of iced tea, cutting down the sugar that goes in my coffee, not buying fattening desserts then not buying desserts at all....
But I didn't do it drastically, and I didn't starve myself. I did allow one 'treat' day per week where we would order out or I would have something fattening.
Once the pounds started coming off, that was it's own incentive. Fitting into a size I haven't been in 5+ years, that kind of thing.
There were days I had to force myself to exercise but as time went on, as I lost more sizes, as the dress started fitting better, it got easier.
In fact, it was so easy that I'm still on 75% of the diet habits, a month after the wedding. I don't want to be fat anymore.

Re: Staying on track
Good job girls!!! You all have such great tips and experiences to share. I have only been doing WW for 3 days and I already feel less bloated. I had a huge glass of water when I woke up this morning which made me eat less at breakfast. Counting the points I think will work for me because it is forcing me to think about my portions and what I am eating. Even though I am on vacation, I am doing a lot of tutoring and taking classes for salary credit, so my schedule is a bit nuts for me to go to the meetings. My mom's best friend is on WW and also 2 of my close friends. So I am using them as a little support group. Just like you girls!!! We can do this!! KimAMalone started a thread on the BHB board about weight watchers, so we can use that to report progress. I don't step on the scale again until Tuesday, and my friend said to stick to my 'weigh day' b/c it will bve more accurate! Make good choices!!! Hooray for us!!

ive found that writing down everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) that i eat keeps me honest and healthier. the guilt of seeing the words 'haagen-dazs' is just too much to bear!

I agree- It is impossible for me to stick to WW without writing down what I eat.
