STD addressing..

STD addressing..

so FMIL gave me a few of her friends from work that she'd like from the wedding so I can send them save the dates (that went out last week, she was a little late giving them to me) thats not the problem I'm having... She gave the womens first & last name... I don't know if there married or anything. Do I write the name+guest. I mean I could ask her later when she gets out of work but honestly I want to write them & get them out by this afternoon. So she's holding me up. Is it bad if I put the womans name+guest?

I don't think it'd be bad to do that. It would be a little nicer if you knew so you could write Mrs. or Ms. in front of their name, especially if they are married, but I don't think it's a big deal either way. I think if you can wait another day though it might be nicer to wait to ask her.

I would really wait to mail those out and find out for sure wether they are married.. Personally I would feel weird if I was married and it was addressed to just me +guest. I know this is someone you don't really know but you are inviting them to your wedding and you don't want to make your FMIL look bad. I don't think its a big deal to hold off send a few extras out over the weekend. I have a few I am still waiting on as well.. but I think doing it the right way is more important that rushing them out the door. Hope that helps!

Thanks ladies!! I know I am getting impatient just because I did ask her from these addresses & names around Thanksgiving!! At least all my OOT ones are sent out, as well of the rest of the STD's..

I feel your frustrations... I have quite a few lingering from FH list... waiting on addresses and marital status. After I sent out all of the ones that were complete, I just put everything away and stopped worrying. Eventually when / if I get the info I need I will mail them out. But it is only the STD and not actual invite... so if it takes way too long to get the info I am just skipping sending them an STD and just wait for the invitation. I think its better just not worry it, it's not worth having them filled out inappropriately

we didnt put +guest on our save the dates because its not an invite that the person is replying to and will be attending with or without a significant other, im only adding the +guest on the actual invitation.

for married couples its proper to write Mr. & Mrs. John Doe and if you dont know the husbands first name just do Mr. & Mrs. Doe. If the couple lives together but are not married, then write Mr. John Doe & Ms. Jane Smith. If its a couple and your friends with both of them but they do not live together than they should each get their own save the date.

this exactly. I actually didn't even put '&' if they are living together and not married. I just put the name on the next line.

ITA ... can you mail out the rest of the STD and just hold off on those few you need to check on and express to your FMIl that it is important you get them asap
