STD Etiquette Question

Ok - I have a bit of a problem. I'm getting married in Ireland in July 05 (hopefully, if we can ever find a place!!), and quite a few guests will be coming from the US. We want to send STD's to allow people enough time to plan to come over for our wedding.

HOWEVER, my fiance is also in the military and could be called at any time to go to the middle east (there is NO way of knowing if or when). Would it be against the 'rules' if I included some sort of wording suggesting that guests get travel insurance or refundable tickets incase FH is called to go to overseas. I don't want people to be left high and dry if that happens.

What do you think?

Re: STD Etiquette Question

I think it's really nice of you to be so considerate toward your guests by providing them with that information. Given your circumstances, I think it's completely appropriate and would be very much appreciated by your guests. You could say something like, 'Given the uncertainty of FH's military obligations, we strongly encourage you to consider obtaining travel insurance in the event that we are unable to hold our wedding on the anticipated date.'

Re: STD Etiquette Question

jenniesunshine - that was absolutely perfect - I hadn't decided exactly how to word it yet but you summed it up perfectly! Thank you so much - I'm glad you agree that it's appropriate!
