When my mother got re-married to my step-father I danced with him to 'He didn't have to be' By Brad Paisley. It's a country song about a man who marries a woman with kids, and becomes a dad that he didn't have to be. The only thing is that it is sung from a guys point of view, since Brad Paisley sings it. I love this song. I think for my wedding though I am going to dance to MY Wish By Rascall Flats with my step-father, considering I will be dancing with my father also.
I had almost the same situation. I am close with my step dad but he has only been around for like 8 years, anyway I picked 'Kind and Generous' by Natalie Merchant, it is perfect b/c it doesn't have anything about daughter or love, its more of thank you for all you have done and I am really appreciative. You shoyuld listen to it.
