Still don't have best man...

Still don't have best man...

I'm very upset, but I don't think there's anything I can do about it.

I asked my sister to be my MOH a looooong time ago. I've finished choosing my bridesmaids, and I've even asked a close friend of the family to be a groomsmen.

I left the decision of the best man to my FH about one year ago. My FH says he's narrowing it down to either a friend of his or his father.

But I think his father would have other responsibilities that day (be with FH's mother, even though they've been divorced for almost 18 years now. They're still very good friends though). My FH says his best friend is too shy and wouldn't want to be given this responsibility. Oh gosh...

What should I do?

IMO dont do anything. That's FH's responsibility not yours. You have plenty of other things to worry about. Let him handle it and allow yourself to relax Im sure everything will work out in the end. Your job was to pick your MOH and BM's and if it's done you did your job

Having the father of the groom as the best man, or groomsman is VERY traditional in the South. It would be an insult not to have him there.

You want your FH to enjoy the wedding day, let him pick whoever to be his best man. If his friend is shy he will hate the toast and the attention, why not let someone else do it.

Let him pick whoever he wants but he does need to make a decision either way since your wedding is less than 5 months away.

I would leave it up to your FH. Like you said you left the responsibility to him.
My DH had his father as his best man, I have never seen anyone so honored to be standing next to us. My FIL is my DH best friend., he couldn't have imagined having anyone else by his side

Well, we had a similar problem where my FH had a HUGE, GIGANTIC falling out with his bestman and they don't talk anymore. FINALLY he asked his other friend the other day! I nagged him about it for months, but it seemed that once I let it go, he did the right thing. Trust FH on this one. He'll get it done. It's a weird thing for guys to talk about, so they put it off a lot.

There really is nothing you can do about it. It is his responsibility and he needs to decide who he wants most by his side.

My DH asked his Bestman right away, but the other guys, he didn't ask them until almost 4 months before. I had already had their pictures on our wedding website for a couple of months! It drove me nuts and the more I nagged the longer it took. Maybe it's just a guy thing. None of them gave it a second thought that it took him so long to ask.

picking the best man is the grooms choice-
i actually think it is very nice that he would consider his dad for the best man-it is cute that they are close that like

Re: Still don't have best man...

He really doesn't have to pick out a best man until he is ready.

His picking of his best man should not impact anything you are doing anyways.

Don't be surprised if he doesn't make the decision till 3-4 months before the wedding.

I really think that is FH's problem and should be solely his decision...

If FH tried to tell me who my MOH would be I would kick his butt!

Thank you ladies!
I guess I can live with not knowing who the best man will be for a few weeks.

Now, if only I can get his parents to give me their preliminary guest list!!!
