Stockings & open toe shoes...

Stockings & open toe shoes...

I think it's weird/funny when people wear stockings and open-toed shoes regularly.

But honestly, would this look stupid under a wedding dress?

I don't think I would do it.

You know, I have the same question!!! The thing is, I want to wear the traditional white thigh-highs and garter belt, but my shoes are OPEN toe!!!

If it's that cold that you need stockings, then wouldn't you need closed toe shoes? And the opposite is true as well: if its warm enough to wear sandals, why wear stockings?

I have a fashion business (sort of) and the going rule is you NEVER NEVER NEVER wear stockings, tights, or pantyhose, with any type of open toe shoe. Simple as that.

So I guess my answer is no, do not wear stockings if you are wearing open toe shoes.

I know a lot of girls on this site are appalled by it but it doesn't bother me at all.

Like you said I never would do it on a regular basis or with casual sandals. But I do wear sheer stockings with open toe shoes for formal occasions. I did it for my wedding. Get sandalfoot stockings and know how to hide the seam - it is possible - - and I think you are fine.

Just make sure you get sandal toe -- then there is no line over the toe part. Since it will be white on white, I don't think it will look funny.

I'd love to get thigh highs, too, with the garter belt. But not too sure if I want to wear closed shoes.
I haven't gotten the shoes yet, but I think closed shoes would look funny.. especially if it's white colored stockings... lol.

They have new stocking that are Toeless-they look cool, although I don't know if I would want a white leg and flesh toned toes peeking out. Does it really matter whatcha wear with a long dress on anyway?

It always matters. If you are going to fret about every detail of your wedding, then why not do this right as well.

It is, however, a special occassion. So the rules don't really have to be followed. But if you are doing the garter thing, remember that everyone will be looking at your feet and legs.

Please, please, please make sure they are sandal foot. I met with a photographer and he showed me some girl's proofs and the bride had on open shoes and a big white reinforced toe!!!!!! It was so awful!

I don't see anything wrong with sandal foot stockings with open shoes though.

THAT WOULD LOOK FREAKY!!

I know the 'rule' regarding the stockings... but I think I would be more comfortable with thigh-highs than bare legged... and for me, open toe shoes are a must. The cutest shoes are always open toed!! Ah, dilemmas!

Re: Stockings & open toe shoes...

Hmmmmmmm.... all valid points.
Personally, I wanted to wear open-toed shoes because I'm getting married in Sept (still warm). However, I also wanted to wear thigh-highs & garter as the bridal 'uniform' in my eyes. What a dilema. I think it I wear both, the fashion police would hold up my wedding!

But I don't know how to choose between each! I can't find closed shoes that I like!

Re: Stockings & open toe shoes...

Donna Karen makes a toeless stocking that is totally sheer and there are different colors of sheer depending on your skin type. I usually hate stockings but I knew my feet would be happier if I wore them so I wore these toeless stockings and it was perfect! It gave me the converage for my feet (plus the control top for the tummy) and it allowed my toes to be open which is what I wanted since I wore open-toes shoes. The stockings are almost like thongs on the bottom- there is an opening for your big toe and a larger opening for all of your other toes. You can't even see it with shoes on- it's perfect! They are a bit pricey but totally worth it!

I bought closed to shoes, so I can wear stockings, to keep my fat legs from rubbing together .

I woldn't wear open oed shoes with stockings, but my cousin see now problem withi it, seh ALWAYS wears stockigns, so I'm fine if she does that with open toed shoes, as a BM.

Well chicilla, I would notice becasue its what I do. I notice everything that people are wearing. But if you would truly feel more comfortable in both, then wear both. Comfort is more important than fashion, but ONLY in this instance.

I would never wear any type of stockings with open toed shoes. It sort of reminds me of older ladies that do that - JMO. I would wear closed toe shoes to my wedding no matter what month. I wouldnt want my feet showing in any pics.

Ok, I have checked with my crownies (most of whom are getting married) and they all say no.

Some ofthem mentioned the fact that stockings will also add another layer to your dress. Remember you will be hot and the dress will feel heavy so that should also be taken into account.
