Stockings & open toe shoes...

Original post by chichila15

I think it's weird/funny when people wear stockings and open-toed shoes regularly.

But honestly, would this look stupid under a wedding dress?

I am one of those who think that open toed shoes with any type of stocking (sandalfoot or otherwise) is NEVER ACCEPTABLE! I also do not think that flip flops or especially sneakers are ever acceptable, I know some brides think it is cute, but IMO it is not even close.

Decide what you want more, the thigh highs or the open shoes. I would go with a closed toe open back shoe and the thigh highs.

I feel exactly the same way. That said, do what ever you want. YOU are the BRIDE. (Hee hee hee we all are, but at your reception it's all you.)

Re: Stockings & open toe shoes...

I TOTALLY love the FLIP FLOPS! and for mine (in August) I will have NICE OPEN toed shoes (with NO stockings) for the pictures, so that it will LOOK pretty when it counts, THEN they're comign off and the flip flops are going on!

My FH hates flip flops(or any open-toed shoes for that matter) but it's MY choice to be comfortable! that's all that matters!

SO, if wearing stockings (sandelfoot) will make YOU comfortable, than i say DO IT! Who cares what everyone else thinks!

If you are comfortable, it will show! and vice versa! You don't want to be looking uncomfortable in pictures, and during the day, cause you won't be at ease!

SO I SAY DO IT!

As for the whole tacky bit, honestly, at the end of it all, it's up to the bride to decide what is/isn't tacky for her. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, though many might not agree, but that's why there are no two people exactly alike in the world.

This is true FH - again, it is what works for us...if something else works for you - go for it - to each his own!

I know I am going to offend - so I am sorry in advance - but sneakers? Flip Flops MAYBE - but how can you feel beautiful in sneakers - BIIIIIIG NOOOOO NOOOO In my book!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! hehe

But JMG, you and I deal with fashion every day so its possible that we are just more aware of what people are wearing than most. I doubt the average person would care.

i wouldn't do it. Wearing sandals means having your toes exposed.

I have to agree- although my b/m got arried in the Bahamas on the beach and she had on flip flops ( fancy ones) it looked great.
A lot of people do the pantyhose /open toe - just not me.

Slingbacks are best. JMHO

Its your day- do whats BEST for you

I agree. Both flip flops and sneakers are an absolute no in my book. There are such things as pretty, comfy shoes.

But JMG, you and I deal with fashion every day so its possible that we are just more aware of what people are wearing than most. I doubt the average person would care.

There are such things as pretty and comfortable shoes but they don't come in white satin! LOL

I have a very wide foot. I also have a very sensitive sole. Aerosoles are the only brand I can wear when it comes to heels. They don't make white satin shoes. So I bought Dyeables brand for the wedding - 2' heel - and white sneakers for the reception. And no one said a thing. No one would. If they thought that, fine. I can't please everyone. But damn it if I wasn't going to be comfortable in the best day of my life.

Besides, after taking the pictures in the grass at the park after the ceremony, my heels were all grass stained. I didn't have a choice.

And for anyone that raises a brow to flip flops or sneakers, or open toed shoes with stocking, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But please don't insult what others choose to do.
