At my cousin's wedding someone stole the money in the card box!!!! Can you believe this?!!! I feel so bad for them! She was so upset!
How many of you will keep the money in the card box? or designate someone to take it out periodically and hold it safe?
I can't believe this could happen!!! This makes me scared to trust that the money will be in there at the end of the night!
Any words?

That is seriously so horrible!!! I'll def have mine as a focal point in the room with one of my non-dancing relatives watching it all nite...its so sad that in a room full of people who you love you have to be on the look-out!!

I heard a story about that. I heard that someone walked away with it at a wedding. I really wanted a card box but decided to use the money bag. I am paying to much for my wedding for some jerk to steal from me. All the girls using one just put it in a very visible spot.

Its hard to belive that people do that. Ive heard stories about that too, and my mom is driving nuts about. So Im going to get a money bag and have her hold it.

wow thats crazy. i went to a wedding and the bride had the card box on her and the grooms table where they sat and ate. I think now i will get one with a lock on it and have it by the table. The sad part is it couldve been someone who worked there.

This is HORRIBLE!!! Whoever did this should burn in hell for eternity. But, that being said, this has to serve as a warning to brides: a box for gifts is a target for thieves!!!!
I don't believe in card boxes, not only because they get stolen, but because it's not what I grew up with. The Bride has a bag, and people come to the dais or sweetheart table and give the gift to you, or most of the time, you and the groom go from table to table and greet everyone at the reception and that's when you get your envelopes, which go in the bag, which is on your arm.
When you are finished, that does NOT go into the bridal room, or a safe, but to a 'reliable' family member (being Italian, it would be Mom and Dad, then brother, uncle, grandparent, down the line, etc.)
I am amazed that people allow money to be put in boxes and bird cages that they spend time decorating and perfecting, when the most important thing for cash gifts is protection, not appearance.
There are ****** people out there, everywhere, and an extravagant wedding is a thief's paradise . . . . . use your head and protect those gifts as you would your purse!!!

By the way, a lock does nothing on a box that a five year old could carry away . .. . .
