STOLEN FROM 07ERS: Have any of your guests said your wedding date is not convenient for them??

Original post by Mizzdimple

People have asked why February..and the only reason why im doing it is because flights from Greece are GREATLY cheaper...and FH's family all work in hotels in Greece...and they start in the beginning of March.

I got one or two, b/c it's a Sunday night. But not for nothing, we're giving them over 18 months notice.... not like they won't have time to take the next day off if they want!

We were considering a Friday, and we spoke to FH's mom about it, and she said it would be difficult. (His entire family is in MD, so, I understand that, plus, his sister is a BM and will be in her first year of teaching, and really can't take off) So, we opted for a Sunday night of a holiday weekend. It doesn't end until 12:30am, so, we might hear about that, but, oh well!

Not yet but I have no doubt that I will get it. Actually a lot of the response I have received thus far has been positive! 4th of July is always a fun holiday but I am sure it will 'ruin' some peoples summer plans. Oh well, it will be the party of the summer!!!

I am also thinking about a 4th of july wedding (although not until 2010 most likely). One question that I am confused on...

I see your date is a fri and a holiday... I know Fri/Sun are cheaper, but are the holidays also??

In 2010, 4th of July is on a sunday and I was hoping for lower quotes being that it is a sunday and a holiday...

TIA!!!!!

i'm surprised so many of you girls have gotten crap about having your wedding on a friday. most weddings i've been to in the past few years were a friday night. i loved it, it gave me an excuse to take a half day. people will love it day of, they just love to complain about it until then even more!!

It's funny that the only ppl who ask me irritating questions are those that are not invited to the wedding

I have heard, 'why leap day?' 'you will only celebrate your anniversary every 4 years' - my response is that we will celebrate 2x every year in between! once on 2/28 and once on 3/1. plus the 4th year will be so special because we will have waited so long for the day to come. whatever, i dont care what people say. as far as the snow is concerned, i say 'bring it on!' I'll walk to church if i have to, its, not far! LOL!

Honestly i have not heard any complaints. Saturday nite in june is pretty standard i think.

I am sure there will be much more to complain about as we get closer to the date, like BM dresses

Not yet - we're getting married on a Friday though, so I'm sure someone is bound to say something

I've just given in and laughed it off. My wedding is on a Thursday! Ive heard it all...but the most important thing Ive heard was 'those who will want to be there will be there...no questions asked'

we're looking for may/june because a lot of my family goes away for the summer - so far no complaints but i've heard a few comments regarding the location of the potential RH (New Rochelle - too far???????)

Thats exactly what I said with my friends and family going away for the summer so I think May and June are perfect
