Stomach troubles...

Original post by autumnbride10

Please don't quote...this is sort of embarassing. I hope it's not too much info. But for the last three weeks, I constantly feel like I am going to have 'issues'. There have been days where I have...all day....and days where it just feels like it...what is this? Is it stress related? Does anybody know of anything I can do or take? Any info would help...thanks...

The BEST acidiopholous (sp?) pills are the ones that have to be refrigerated. I learned this from a co-worker that has had MULTIPLE stomach surgeries due to colitis, colon cancer, etc...

It will take quite a while to see a difference though - so be forewarned. My nutritionist said the yogurt challenge thing is BS - it can take up to a month to make a surefire difference...

a MONTH????

For the time being, you can try some fiber supplements. That may, um, firm things up a bit for you....

Immodium always works, but for me - i have to OVERDOSE on it and i'm not kidding. And then, it'll only give me 12-16 hours of relief.

Avoid acidic things, avoid dairy...that may help a little... Eat some rice, maybe get some chinese for dinner - steamed chicken and white rice. MOST of the time, that'll help me...

I don't know ... if you have IBS, I would think it takes a while for your body to get 'normal' -- but if you are just having stress issues OR if you do ever eat something that causes you to get sick, it should work right away. For me they do. Taking one a day keeps issues away for me.

Welcome to my life. I have IBS, but sometimes the symptoms of just regular stress can mimic that, esp w/a big event coming up! I'd see a doctor, however, nothing has ever helped my IBS (pills, treatment, diet, exercise, fiber) except for activia yogurt, and even on that I have weeks where its just awful. Like this week!

Oh my....I hope it goes away after the wedding...

Def. try chammomile tea. I have many tummy poroblems because the min. I get stressed I feel it in the tummy and chammomile tea works wonders for me.

Try to stay away from anything greasy, fried, basically just stick to very bland foods. That also helps me when I'm having tummy issues. Also...no caffeine.

Ok...the last few weeks I have changed my diet considerably. For breakfast I have cereal and non fat milk. Lunch is either cereal or salad, and dinner is whatever FMIL cooks. I try to not eat anything greasy. So today it's been 2 bowls of cereal and I feel 'funny'....it's starting to get annoying...could it be IBS? what is that anyway?

I BS is irratable bowl syndrome whcih very well might be the case, but you might be lactose intollerant. When i have too much milk or dairy products this happens to me try to stay away from dairy and see how that helps

Hmmm....I hadn't thought of that...

if you have IBS - it isn't a come & go thing. It's every day, for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately, Mima & I both have the same problem and it's the worst thing in the world, something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

Get to a doctor as soon as you can, they will be able to test you for lactose intolerance & they will help you figure out the best plan.

Do you have IBS? or just troubles once in a while?

Please, I carry pepto, tums, gas X and prescription librax in my purse at all times. I feel your pain! What I need most of all is probably a xanax or a valium

That's good to know. I'm sorry that you have it. I'm thinking it's stress related. There is also insomnia, but that's another problem. Maybe they are going hand in hand....

Yeah, I didn't mean that IBS came and went - but I do think that sometimes stress can mimic SOME of the symptoms (like the constipation and the emergency diarrhea)

I hope yours is just stress and goes away tomorrow! Mine has been an ongoing battle for as long as I can remember

09er crashing...

I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue disease almost 2 yrs ago, and I know that it is usually misdiagnosed...most dr's will go ahead and say it is IBS...or Crohn's disease....cause the symptoms are really very close....if you look it up on the internet and feel as though u have some of the symptoms, i would def suggest asking your dr about it...

okay my PSA is finished
