Storing a Wedding Gown?

I just got my dress this morning! And I'm not sure how to store it until I find somewhere to go get it altered. Its in a plastic bag, in the box it came in and in the closet..will it be ok like that?

I had my dress for almost 8 months before the wedding. I kept it in the bag and laid it flat. I also had it altered at Bridal Elegance (phyllis) and she was basically storing it unitl she was ready to work on it.
