Hey girls! Happy New Year!! I just had a question about strapless dresses in a Catholic Church...does anyone know if thats not allowed? I just heard that from someone that I work with and now I'm freaking out because I really don't wanna wear something over my shoulders in the middle of the summer.
Thanks!

Re: strapless dress.
i had a full mass in a catholic church and wore a strapless dress.
that used to be the rules when my mom got married, but now churches don't care. they might care if they're ultra conservative though

I guess it depends upon the church. Way back when, women needed to cover their shoulders. I've been to tons of catholic weddings where the bride and bridesmaids all wore strapless...including myself. I guess I should check with my own church!!

Re: strapless dress.
i've seen a lot of catholic weddings and some girls wore strapless. I would ask the Father just to be sure. I know some Catholic Churches are more traditional than others

I don't think it matters anymore, although I have seen brides who 'cover up' but I don't think its necessary..I would check with your church just to make sure. I doubt though they will prevent you from walking down the aisle if you have a strapless gown.

Re: strapless dress.
my fsil wore a strapless dress at a catholic church.....but i am getting married at a VERY traditional church and need a wrap or some type of sleeves, so i think it depends on how traditional the chruch is. but more than likely you will be fine

Re: strapless dress.
I'm wearing a strapless, and am fairly sure no one will care.... after all, every sunday there are many girls in VERY short skirts, and dads wearing shorts and sneakers..... and even worse, sweatpants
(a bit disrespectul, but they're never stopped at the door.....)
If your chuch DOES stop those folk, you likely will need to cover-up....

every church is different ~ some churches want you to be covered and some dont mind. Check with your church!

Is your church telling you that you cant?

Re: strapless dress.
It really depends on the church/priest. Some are more old school than others.
