Some people having been mentioning to me that I should think about getting a dress with straps because if I don't all day/night I will be adjusting my dress (pulling it up). I just figured if the dress fit correctly it wouldn't do that. Next week I start looking for dresses and would like some other people's thoughts. Thanks girls!

Re: strapless dresses
Although I have not worn a strapless gown that will be as heavy as my wedding gown, I really have not had any problems with having to adjust my gown very often. I do agree with you that if it is fitted correctly that it should minimize the problem, but maybe to be safe you should post it to the newlywed brides....

Re: strapless dresses
If it is fitted correctly you should not be pulling your dress up all night. I'm getting a strapless dress. My friend had a strapless dress and she did not pull it up once all night long.

My dress is strapless......and I never thought strapless would work for me for some reason. After the alterations, it fits like a glove! No need at all to be pulling it up.

I'm getting a strapless and I agree, if it fits properly it won't be falling all night

Re: strapless dresses
I personally don't like strapless but I know a lot of girls that do. I was talking to my banquet manager about dress styles and she was saying how girls adjust and they don't even realize it. Sometimes it shows up on the video and there's nothing they can do. I'm sure if it's fitted right you won't have to adjust, but I think some girls do it as more of a psychological just-making-sure-it's-up thing.

Re: strapless dresses
Of the 5 friends of mine who wore strapless in the last year and a half, all of their dresses 'fit' but they were still had to pull them up. I don't think THEY noticed though, because it becomes second nature--and I only know because of my candid dance pictures!

Re: strapless dresses
i think it is a confidence thing.. if you are paranod about it, you will be pulling at it. My friend was convinced her dress would fall and thats all you see in the video..
BUT i got a strapless and I was jumping up ad down in the one thats was a size too big for me (i have a corset) in the iftting room and I wasnt budging an inch.

I had the same dress, and I also had no problems with it staying up. I was nervous about that, but it was perfect.

Re: strapless dresses
my seamstress used velcro to hold the dress in place. what she did was velcro one side to my strapless bra and then the other huge strip to my dress. it did not move all day and i danced the entire night!!!! go strapless if that is what you want...jmo

Re: strapless dresses
I agree, if it fits right, it should be fine. I actually have a strapless dress that I am adding a halter strap to because I always wanted that look but today when I put on the dress, it didn't need anything, it stayed quite put!

Re: strapless dresses
I thought and was told the same thing so when I went shopping I told the saleswoman not to show me anything strapless, then the girl in the dressing room next to me came out with a gorgeous strapless and I had to try it on.....wound up getting that one! I had NO problems at all and have no regrets.
