If you are worried about being uncomfortable and have large boobies, did you consider spaghetti straps? That way you're 99% bare but have that little bit of insurance that you won't be all over the place or pulling up your dress all day long. A lot of strapless dresses can be made with straps.

My dress is off-the shoulder but it just wraps around the curve so it's not too far down and won't restrict me too much. I like off-the-shoulder b/c it's flattering for my child-bearing hips!!
I also wanted a style that was different and all my friends lately have had strapless. I tried some on and loved them so if you're comfotable, go for it. None of my friends who wore stapless had problems, except one who said that on her video she saw her nip pop out when her arms were up! But that also had to do with the 3 extra padded cups she added!!!!

My dress is off the shoulders. I actually find strapless uncomfortable because I am always tugging it up. I wear alot of off the shoulder shirts so I guess I am used to it.

All the weddings in the past couple of years that I have been to the bride has worn halter or strapless, since I am not comfortable in strapless anything and I feel halter is to summery I went with off the shoulder but not all the way down. The straps are just off the shoulder so they wont restrict me.

I did not have either, I had halter, but my second choice would be strapless. It has that romantic look.

I personally like the strapless (I wasn't planning on it, but that's what I ordered!). I originally went to see the off the shoulder, and the bridal consultant asked me how tall FI was - when I told her almost a foot taller than me, she said do NOT get off the shoulder - when I dance with him I'd look like a begging puppy dog because you can't raise your arms much. That was it for me on the off the shoulder.

I think if you try off the shoulder, like how it looks, and it does not restrict your movement, then just get it. All that matters is what you like and what feels comfortable to you.

I think I would like strapless better. Mine actually has spaghetti straps, but I can remove them.

Do you think the bones inside the strapless gowns are enough to hold them up?
Would you please tell me where to buy good corsets? My strapless bras never stay up. Someone mentioned Goddess. Where did you get it?

I went off the shoulder and my gown was a Paloma Blanca. It was comfy, and I had no problems raising my arms over my head at all. I'm also a large chested girl, and the off the shoulder was fine.

Me & my big boobs wore strapless!

What I didn't know until my fitting is they put a doo-dad (I don't know how to describe it) on the top inside of your dress that goes into your corset/bra. So the dress will stay up as long as you have a proper undergarment!

Yeah, I mentioned Goddess. Your boobies won't be going anywhere you don't want them to

You can go to a few places in LI:

Mary's Corsettiers (best service hands down, but very busy)
in Woodbury

Georgette's in Hicksville (great selection, but does not do alterations)

Mary Lerner in Oceanside/Longbeach area..... (good selection, good service)

Basically you ask for the Goddess strapless bra - with the boning down to the waist - you can get with lace or just the smooth one (which is what I got)

Get the corset sooner than later in case it needs to be ordered.

I had an off the shoulder drees with sleeves. At first I was concerned it was going to be restricting...but it was perfect.

No problem LIMom, I think it was $44, I can get the style # for you once I'm home if you want

Yes, if you don't mind. That's an excellent price. I was expecting at least double.
I live not too far from Woodbury, so I'll probably go to Mary's.
Thank you!

LIMom, if you go to Mary's try to get there as soon as they open. They get crowded very fast, but the good thing is they will take you into a dressing room where you can try it on, and they will alter it perfectly to fit you.
If you have your dress, you can even bring it in and make sure it looks good before you buy it.

I'll get the model number when I get home tonight

ETA: LIMom, look at this thread to see my pics how my boobies held up
