The dress I picked originally was strapless, however, I am having them build a halter strap for me. I love the way halters look and I don't want to have to be picking up my dress all night. I have a large chest and I've worn strapless dresses that were altered for me. I was STILL picking it up.

I did the same thing!
I just went for my first fitting last weekend and I am having her add a halter strap. It looks very pretty!

Not if it's done right! I hope Lol. My dress is strapless and I am confidant that its going to be good

I'm having an issue with this too... it's not so much the strapless dress that I am worried about- it's the having to wear a strapless bra with the strapless dress.

me + strapless bras= NEVER work out

I can't wear strapless bras either. I'm going to have cups built into my dress like I've done all of my other dresses (prom, sweet 16, sorority formals, etc.). It's so much more comfortable.

Do you find that having that done offers enough support? I'm a 42C, do you think that would be supportive enough?

Try on and pick...I had a goal of wearing strapless because I was bent on losing a lot of weight before the wedding and wanted to prove I could. Take a look at dresses on you - it is such a personal choice in my opin.

how did you guys decide on straps or strapless??

i feel like i would want a strapless wedding dress, but whenever i wear a strapless dress im always picking it up and its annoying.

do wedding dresses that are strapless fall down too?

I decided by trying both styles on. Straps made me look wider than I am. Strapless was more flattering on me. It was an easy decision.

I was DEAD set against strapless.

What did I get? Strapless.

As long as its altered well you wont have problems.

If the bodice is tight enought, you shouldn't have a problem at all.

thanks girls! yea i guess if it is altered correctly it wont fall down. i just have had problems with strapless that has been altered to fit my correctly and still fell down- and those dresses werent near as heavy as a wedding gown. i love the look of strapless, and thats probably all i will try on!!!

any past brides who had strapless that had issues?

I had strapless but also had an optional halter than went along with it. I ended up putting it on half way through the day because the dress was heavy and didnt fit tight enough and it was annoying to keep pulling it up!

lis,

my dress was really tight and the bones were digging into me, but that stiffness kept the dress up i dont think i had to pull it up at all even when dancing i cant really remember - i just remember my lower back hurting from the dress and slip being on the heavy side....i think straps probably would make a dress feel less heavy....

i think mermaid gowns are nice with straps

I like v necks or other non strapless styles--even cap sleeves---I think they make your torso look longer....and I like how they photograph.
I think one shoulder could be a good compromise. If you are super duper top heavy and want to really dance, I would think the additional support might be good.

I went with a halter which is great cause it wont fall down at all...

i just went with whatever dress i liked most, i didnt want to pick a dress only based on one thing, i wanted to fall in love with a dress.

Ive never worn strapless bc i have a big chest and will say i was worried about this but don't even worry. The boning on these dresses seriously hold you up better than most bras. The top of my dress was so heavy and thick and the boning, better support than any bra I own. They fit you so perfectly, you wont have problems

just remember that other strapless dresses you've worn in the past, the fabric is VERY different from your wedding dress. Most other dresses are more of a lighter fabric and something like silk alone for example wont support you

im a 36DD and believe it or not i wore no bra and couldn't believe it. I never wear no bra, not even around the house i cant, its not comfortable. I dont wear strapless either. At first i was freaking out about no bra on wedding day, bc to me i cant imagine it. When i did 2nd fitting, they measured me without my bra on, i took it off bc it wasnt the bra i was planning on wearing. When i went in for final fitting, they measured it according to my measurements without a bra and i couldn't even put the bra on bc it was too tight around my chest when i did. But like i said in my post above, they fit you so well on top its fine. My dress was a heavy thick fabric and along with the boning, it gave me more support than any bra ever could. Doesn't mean you have to go strapless, you can get a long line bra. For me built in cups make my chest look weird, seems it never fits right over my chest correctly and gives them a different shape
