Stream of Conciousness... (join in!)

Original post by MonkeyLuv

This is a writing exercise we used to do in high school. A word (or phrase) is given and everyone is to write for 2 minutes a stream-of-conciousness response to that word.

Let's make it a little more diverse and at the end of each post think of a new word or phrase.

I'll start...

Long Island
it's the biggest lie around because the entire island isn't considered part of it (Queens and Brooklyn). There's a weird culture here of affluence right next to poverty, it's like Victoria Gotti buying a Fish Fillet at McDonald's at the same time that homeless guy who screams a lot is buying a McGriddle. It's like a paradox only boring, predictable and consumer-driven.

the next word is WEDDINGS

beth! thought you went to lunch or something...wanna count again!?!

I am back! Went to the post office AND the bank in a half hour! Sure, I'll count (or not count!)...I want to reach 2 million by 5 because I am supposed to go visit my dying cat at my mom's after work. I feel like I have invested so much in posting to get it up there, so I would feel like I am abandoning it leaving then, but I have to go see Meow...

Coffee

In college I wrote an ad. campaign for coffee featuring a drunken frat boy waking up in bed next to a dog...The last frame said 'XYZ coffee...You won't regret waking up with us...' I don't like coffee, never liked the taste....

Mouse pads

Mouse Pads .... Lint picker uppers... that's all they're good for.... pop out the ball and scratch the lint off the roller bars... sigh...

Mouse Pads:

I have a bunch of them. My favorite one has Dorothy's ruby slippers on it with the heels touching and it says 'Click here'. I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan, so I thought it was a riot. I also have a really adorable one of my older nephew when he was 2 (4 years ago!) that says, 'I love you aunt jackie'. My nephews are the best...I love seeing them, but I think they love Uncle Brad more!!

Mouse pads

and I hope Meow is okay, beth!

With Beth's cat dying and her choice of phrase it reminded me of my father the luddite (he hates and fears technology) and a package we got in the mail one time. It was from Dell or microsoft or some computer thing and my mother opened it at the kitchen table and my father hovered, as he always does. It was some free gift to entice us into buying something. My mother handed it to my father and said 'here, it's a mouse pad.' My father paused, looking at the mouse pad in his hand and then turning to look at my cat, who was lounging on the table. They, my father ad my cat, locked eyes as my father continued to contemplate the mouse pad in his hands. Finally my mother took it and said, 'Peter, it's for the computer not the cat.' Old people are strange.

Kids

They are sometimes sweet and sometimes annoying. We would like to have one someday. They can be cute and fun. They are also a lot of work. Some ages are more difficult than other ones but they all have their challenges.

OMG, Cheese. Cheese, cheese, cheese. Cheese is my greatest downfall. I love everything cheese - Gouda, Brie, Cheddar, you name it, but alas, I've been struck with the dreaded lactose intolerance, so I can't eat it all too often. BUT, I've found that pregnancy has eliminated my lactose intolerance, so CHEESE ME UP!!!

KIndergarten. I remember I had a really cool pair of overalls in kindergarten. I loved them. I thought I looked like a teenager (I was five, what did I know). I met one of my best friends in kindergarten. We had the same lunchbox and I accidentally took hers at snack time and when I poured the thermos contents into the little cup, I realized it wasn't mine and we became friends when I returned it.-

Sympathy is a great trait that a person can have. you have to be a good person to others and be compassionate.

compassion

We should all have compassion for our fellow humans (and well animals too for that matter). Just showing someone you care or taking the extra effort to help can mean a lot. It is the right thing to do. We should all pitch in to help each other more.

Charity doesn't always work out the way you intended. I used to go to the park every sunday and buy two bagels, one for myself, and one to give to a bum. After three consecutive Sunday's of bums chasing me out of the park screaming bloody hell at me for offering them a bagel, I gave up on my bagel charity

Charity

I wanted 3 daughters named Faith, Hope and Charity, until I realized that having a house full of girls would probably blow, especially since I'm sort of the anti-girl and I'm sure my daughters would be princesses and we would never understand each other. And I'd spend their childhoods trying to convince them that pink isn't the only color in the world, and they'd spend my twilight years trying to convince me that feminism and gender-nuetrality is dead. Like Scarlet O'Hara and Betty Friedan. Now I'm just depressed.

Do you think one day humans will have the capacity of computers? Like, one day, I'll be able to upgrade my 'memory' chip? OR, like that movie, eternal sunshine, which I LOVED, if you have a 'bad' memory, you will be able to just delete or erase it?

I remember everything. I still remember my best friend's phone number from 15 years ago and my first real boyfriend's license plate number. I remember some of the most useless information… If only you there were a switch to erase certain memories.

Justice is a very thing to achieve in such an unfair world. look around and you will see that there no justice for you to see.

Eyes

Eyes are the window to the soul. you can tell a lot about a person by looking them in the eyes.
