Strike
How is this going to affect you?Is your company being lenient with you in terms of getting to work?
I will be screwed if there is a strike, Sure I can take Metro North but it is a pain and the Express bus will take too long.

Re: Strike
I think I'm going to be okay. I take the LIRR from Seaford and walk from Penn. Things will probably be overcrowded but I'll deal with it, I guess! The firm I work for is supplying shuttle buses and car pick ups. Lenient... um... not really. They're trying their best to get everyone here.

I live in Astoria and do not plan on walking 8 miles to my office! They said everyone should try to get to work but I am not gonna stress over it!

Re: Strike
The company provided us private buses to/from ferries, but it would still be a 3hr commute. My boss said I can work from home monday, & catch up with her on tuesday.

Re: Strike
I take the LIRR from Bayside which will be made into a hub for the northern queens riders. It will be incredibly crowded and probably run slow but hopefully (keeping fingers crossed) won't be too bad.Our office sent out an email asking that all employees leave ample time to get to work as timely as possible - i.e. leaving your house 10 minutes earlier is not going to cut it.

Re: Strike
Hey Christine,In the event of a strike I will also take the LIRR from Bayside. I am hoping that it doesn't come to that. My company has contracted buses to take us in but they are leaving from Queens Center Mall, I don't know how I would get myself there.

Re: Strike
If the strike goes through - I'll be working from home until it ends. There's no way I can walk from Penn down to the World Financial Center. The firm sent a huge e-mail just asking everyone to bring as much stuff home with them on Friday as possible. Actually - the strike may work to my advantage - I'm supposed to teach a class on Thursday, but haven't had one second to prepare for it. If the strike goes through - no class!!!!!Welcome New Vendors
