string quartet or trio?

string quartet or trio?

I can either hire a three or four people to perform at my wedding ceremony. I don't know much about string performances...do you need the fourth to sound right?

The difference is $100 plus tips. Three fits in my budget, I would have to go over for four, but I'll willing to do it if I need to. Any opinions?

3 is perfect. Can you FM me who youre using and how much they were?

I was looking into Tommy Tunes. They have a keyboard/flute combo for reception whic turns into sax, guitar and percussion at cocktail hour and they are great!

I wouldn't blow your budget on that 4th person. A string trio can sound great, I'd say 2 violins and a cello.

It depends on the music pieces they'll play. Some pieces were made specifically for quartets, but experienced musicians can arrange the piece to be played by a trio.
