Strip Clubs

Original post by Suzanne

Do you ladies let your guys go to these? Its never been an issue before, but i found out that D/H brother is setting up a night for them all to go to one, and its not a bachelor party or anything, i wasnt so sure how to react when he tells me.. If he even does...

Re: Strip Clubs

I hate strip clubs. i think they are gross. But that is not going to stop my FH from going to his bachelor party. Its kinda expected from all of the guys. We have argued over it several times, even b/4 we were engaged.

Re: Strip Clubs

As much as I know what they are about and that they're harmless, I still hate them! They are sleezy and I hate to think my man would be attracted to it. I know it's all in guy 'fun', but I still get the creeps when someone brings it up. JMO.

Re: Strip Clubs

Thank got hubby hates them, but if he wanted to go once in a blue moon I wouldn't have a problem with it, personally I would have more of a problem with him in a bar or a club, in those places there are REAL women looking for men, in a strip club these girls are working!!! Thank god it's not an issue for us either way.

Re: Strip Clubs

My DH doesn't go because he thinks they are a waste of time and money, but if he did it wouldn't be an issue with me. I know what kind of person he is and I trust his judgement, just as he trusts mine. Sure he looks at other women, but that doesn't bother me because he is just looking. I look at other men (and enjoy the view ), but it is looking only for both of us. We keep each other happy so there is no need for either of us to go elsewhere.

I actually agree with Marnles...FH took me to one in Atlanta and we had fun, to my surprise!

Re: Strip Clubs

Nubride, I totally agree with you!!

I waitressed in a strip club during college and most of the girls there are just there to make money. It may look sexy to see them on the stage dancing, but if you heard them b i t c h ing and complaining about how their feet hurt, bad tippers, etc in the back room you would crack up. Its all an illusion.

All the girls used to say they'd rather their boyfriend/FI/FH go to a strip club than a straight bar.

Re: Strip Clubs

My opinion is the same as Wendy's and everyone else with the 'We trust eachother, no problema' opinion

Speaking of strip clubs, has anyone been to Escapes recently ? Last time I was there for a Bach party was over 3 yrs ago. Wondering if its any different, we're planning a bach party for next month...

Re: Strip Clubs

FH can't even go to a Hooter's restaurant without leaving the waitresses a note about how they should get a more respectable job ( he apparently did this), so the question of him ever going to a strip club is more like, are they going to throw him out for being a pity party. Him and his friends like geeky things, so I have no worries, but on the chance that he got the urge to look at someone else's boobage, I wouldn't really care. It's not like he's going to run off with a stripper, please.

Re: Strip Clubs

I'm with most here but I wonder if we are all a bit naive - I've heard gross things about lapdances - the guys aren't touching the dancers, but the dancers are, well, not doing anything obvious, but kind of brushing against the men. It's supposedly common practice.

Re: Strip Clubs

I am in the minority here.....FH & I think they are completely unnecessary and not a way to respect the other person. There are plenty of other activities guys can do to spend time together and do guy stuff.....why does it have to involve 'sexual actions & feelings?'--the most intitmate things that a couple shares?! i know they are not sleeping with these girls but still---'to love, honor & cherish' just doesn't seem to me that that is honoring your partner--JMHO. i agree with kelly4

Re: Strip Clubs

clueless my FI used to be a bouncer in many strip clubs and in the back rooms sometimes its a lonely guy looking for company. if it is a lapdance the girl is just sitting on his lap wiggling her toosh or dancing between his legs.

I've been to a strip club (if you read my post above you'll see what I am talking about) and honestly it wasnt bad. I was surprised to see that their were more men hanging around the bar then watching the girls.

Also some of the girls their are not straight and they just do the job to pay for school, they have a family, or drugs. A friend of FI's danced her 4 years of college. Once she graduated she quite and is now a very successful VP of a technology department.

Strip clubs are not as bad as we think they may be. Some places like Wiggles does not allow alcohol in the place. Wiggles is an all nude place and because of that their is absolutly no alcohol drinking. Places like goldfingers, G2 (gallaghers 2) and flashdancers are upper class type of strip clubs and very respectful. The strip clubs underneath the 59th street bridge, yuck. They are disgusting. Those are the places that are trashy and the woman are disgusting sponges.

IF FI said he was going to a strip club it would upset me because I dont like the half naked woman dancing around him, but i wouldnt be concerned of the actions because I know him he'll sit at the bar. (Plus drinking in these places is really expensive. 1 small drink is about 6 ot 7 bucks)

Re: Strip Clubs

prncss rachel, my husband is the same way about strip clubs Not being the first priority in his life. (sometimes its cool being married to the one in the strip club (geek, lol) that would rather spend his singles on a steak!
and when he talks about married men going to strip clubs he is totally disgusted about the thought of it, the thought of how its such a disrespect to his wife and family, especially those with children...
as disrespectful as it is, that once in a while bachelor party is not the end of the world, and neither of us sees it as anything tragic..(he actually cringes at the thought of me going to strip clubs
)
whats important is that you trust eachother, and that they (strip clubs) are NOT a part of your lives on a regular basis, THAT WOULD be a problem in ANY marriage, i dont care how much they care for and love eachother...

My husband hates them, he finds them disgusting. His friends took him to one for his bachelor party and it didn't bother me. I really don't care if he ever decides to go with his friends again. I trust him 100%.

i guess i may be in the minority on this one but it makes me totally sick to picture my FH being somewhere staring at some other girl and fantasizing about her....if it were me i would tell him not to go...actually...i would be upset that he even wanted to.

Re: Strip Clubs

wow...we talk about how the boards have changed....I have to say on this issue it is for the better!! When I first came to LIW...this was the big drama thread...people yelling back and forth...

as for strip clubs...DH only goes to them at bach parties...and on a rare other occasion...it doesn't bother me at all...I trust that he's not doing anything except...looking...and maybe getting a lap dance...lol

I try to think of my cousins bach party...we went to a male revue...and while we were excited and giddy and loud...we went to a bar afterwards and saw some of the guys...and were skeeved out...I wanted to tell the girl one was talking to - that he was a stripper...yuck!!!
