Stuck...can't find the right place....any ideas???
I am having trouble finding the perfect place and was wondering if anyone knew of any places that would hold approx 300 people that you could bring in your own caterer???
This is basically my last attempt b/c with my guest list it limits the halls...so....Here's the background.....
So, we are kinda stuck between too places right now....one, almost everything seems perfect (we're going to see it again to make sure we still feel the same way and have our questions answered, can't remember about the cocktail hour if it rains), but the distance is a little further than we would like and the it's the higher of the two prices 80 pp
The second we love everything, except for the reception room (which is not traditional, so we don't hate it but we don't love it). This one is closer, in the price range we were looking for 70pp, and seems willing to bend over backwards, we are just unsure of the reception room (which is where the majority of the party is held)
We are going to present this to hall number 1 to see if they can do anythign to match the price....but basically i want to make sure that I have covered all the bases when it comes to where to have the reception. So my last thoughts are bring in my own caterer....I just dont know WHERE to do this!!! Thanks in advance!!!!

Not sure where you are looking, but a lot of the wineries out east on the north fork allows you to bring your own caterer.

You could try Knights of Colombus, the Moose Lodge or the Elks Club. They are all located through out Long Island.

Does the place you like have a minimum? If you think you can guarantee a higher number, they might decrease the cost per person.
A lot of hotels allow outside caterers and have rooms to accomodate that many people. I'm not sure what their pricing is though.

Not a good idea if you're only looking to spend $70-80 per person. Don't forget they usually charge a HUGE site fee. (A few are up to $15,000)

Those are way out of the price range she listed. You're looking at a $5,000-$15,000 site fee + $125-175pp after that.
That's what shattered my vineyard wedding dream!

The Vineyard wedding was actually my dream...but....we don't fit at vineyard caterers and everything else just seems so expsensive!!!!
I'm just trying to figure out how to have a dream wedding without going broke on one day!!!

You might be better off going with the in-house catering at some place... Are you set on bringing in your own caterer?

I am not set on my own caterer...I just want to explore all my options....I'm trying to find the happy balance in how much to spend without feeling like i'm spending too much....and im out east on long island...and it feels like out here i can't find much under 100 dollars pp ++ that I still love (yes i have found some just don't love them)

It's hard with a large guest list because you are limited with your options, I know, we have a large guest list too.
I'm not sure how many places you looked at but, definitely try to negociate with that place you like a lot!

Yes, a lot of places that you bring your own caterer to end up being more pricey because of the site fee and the extras that you have to buy or rent that would normally be included in the package at the hall. I would stick with the place that you seem to really love...even if it is a bit further away.
