Lol! I think you 'drag' it around before the ceremony...get married...take some pics...either bustle it for the 1st dance or hold it...then definitely have it bustled for the rest of the night! HTH!

I took pictures at the hall and then bustled it right before we were intoduced

Either before the first dance or right after. It depends on whether you want to hold your train for the first dance or not.

Yes, it gets filthy! My cousin's bustle broke half way through the night so we had to safety pin her dress up. The whole thing was pulled and filthy in the back.

I dragged mine around until we got to the RH...then it was bustled
You dont walk around with it on the ground, you throw it over your arm and carry it
ETA: Give your bok to dh to carry

My Bridal Attendant did it before I went to the cocktail hour.

I did bustle my dress for the first dance and it fell down a little bit and prevented us from doing our first dance in style, as we took ballroom dance classes, just a few, so we only used it for the orginal grand entry which was really cool . My husband had no idea it fell down during our first dance so in the beginning he was rather dragging me across the floor or he was trying to, until I whispered in his ear that I almost fell, then I said just rock back and forth, before that he was mad and just giving me the evil eye, it was funny to say the least. You have to see the photos you will crack up, we dont look so happy for the first minute or so and my bridesmaid was yelling, hey Kristy and Russ, SMILE. .... then we laughed so hard, you have to see the pictures of our first dance, they are quite amusing & histerical :

Oh and regarding the ribbon, it depends on which style dress you have, mine had to many spots and they could not use ribbons, depends on the weight of the dress and how much of it is going to bustle up too.

we got in the limo, went to danfords, took pics outside, and then bustled up before entering the reception
