SugarPlums cuts tags out of gowns!

My Mom got her gown 2 weeks ago at Sugar Plums and I have been raving about the place. The women Noelle was excellent! Knew exactly what type of dresses to have my Mom try on.
So yesterday my stepmom and I went to look for her dress. Well the women who helped us was so snotty. She acted as if we inconviencing her by walking into the store. The place was not busy at all either. First she brought out some really big puffy gowns at first, nothing like my stepmom described she was looking for. My stepmom also gave her a price range, which she 100% ignored. Then after she found a gown that she loved I looked inside the gown to see who the designer was. The tag said SugarPlums. Last time I found it odd that it looked like the tags were removed too. But later that day we went to Commack Wedding Center- the same exact gown was there and a Jovani! The women at SugarPlums even told us that 'This is a special design gown for us'. Is she crazy. It is readily available at tons of places. Plus Commack had it $150 cheaper.
So just watch out. They have some great stuff but some of the help s***s and they are lying about who is designing the gowns.

Yes, they do and they don't allow you to take pictures. But personally I have been going to Sugar Plum since my sweet 16, proms, military balls and I am now almost 23. My mother also just recently bought her MOB gown there for my wedding.
I don't doubt that anyone will say the Sugar Plum is the cheapest by far, b/c they just aren't. It is a small run store and for the service they have the price is better, there dresses are 100% less handled then say the Commack Wedding Center.
I don't know who helped you, but Jeri has been helping we since 1995 and she is a sweetheart. I am a small size and when I was in HS I needed more personal attention and a place that has sizes I needed. My mother on the other hand is a Women's plus size and I must say the dress she got was absoultely incredible and nothing like she would ever imagine wearing. They also brought my mom out ball gowns as well which she laughed at but atleast they should her a full selection and it was very comfortable and none pressure.

I also wanted to add that sugarplum may cut out Tags, but if you go to there website www.sugarplumonline.org (I believe) you can see what designers they have. They even have the Jovani website on it, and I know that first hand b/c for a ball I went to last year they special ordered me one. I don't understand why they said it was specially designed for them, that is very odd the only reason I could think that is some times certain designers only send to certain stores on long island. I think CWC is has a deal like that with Mori Lee.. I forget.

I am also a CWC bride, and it's funny b/c my dress cost less then my mom's but hey. She is happy with it, It looks incredible on it and she never buys anything for herself. So, needless to say we were Estatic there.

That's awesome your step mom found her dress alot cheaper at CWC and Jovani has really nice stuff that doesn't wrinkle but the two stores are kinda far and for alternations and what not if your live in nassau and have to go to CWC it's kinda a trip and an expense.

I'm really shocked you had such a horrible time there. yikes!

ps. I would definetly call and ask to speak to someone about why they would say the dresses were speciality designed there, that is very odd.

I too have been shoppping at SugarPlum since my semi-formal in 8th grade! I like it there, because they bring the gowns out to you. I never had a problem there.

Michele I definately agree with you on the help at Sugar Plums. I went there with my mom today, and the woman who was helping us was a SNOT. She too seemed like she didn't want to be bothered helping us either. I hate those little boutiques where the woman are to rich to work and they do this p/t and are unhappy helping people. They had nothing nice for my mom either. Every single dress she showed my mom was strapless. I don't think my mom would feel comfortable in a strapless. Don't think we're going back there
