I have decided on doing a somewhat different wedding dress. I need help with deciding on the alterations. I went with the intention of altering the neckline to only have a sweatheart neck and nothing else. Simply getting rid of the lace on the neck. However when I have tried it on a few times family members say that I should leave it and that it looks great like this. I want to make sure Im still gonna look good for my fiance and not like an old maid. I am also planning on adding a belt.
Please help Do I KEEP IT Or Get rid of it !!! Suggestions please
i think it looks good either way but underneath it has the sweetheart. Is there a way to have it covered up for the cermony and then taking it away like a cape for the reception? and i say instead of a belt why not add a flower on the waistline?

My friend wore this dress for her wedding and she looked wonderful! Not old maid like at all! I say leave it...it makes it unique! :)

I think the dress (esp. because of the length and current lace neckline) is so youthful, fun, and beautiful! I think you should keep it as is!

I LOVE the belt that you have in the last pic, so i would totally add that. As for the neckline....maybe its because i don't like lace....but i would get rid of it. If you wanna cover up your chest for the church, etc you can always get a shall or something....but its such a personal decision.

PErsonally, if you don't love the lace at the neck, then I don't think that dress is for you... it's what gives the dress it's character. I think it's gorgeous, not old maid-y at all. I'd totally leave it. Add the belt if you really want some sparkle (but I did like the flower suggestion ILO the belt also).

I agree with the above post. I think the dress is beautiful...kind of whimsical :). But if you do not like the top, I don't think its the dress. It would take away all the character in my opinion. I had the same kind of dilema and winded up just finding a diff dress that i loved everything about!

i agree with other posters if you dont like the lace, dont get the dress. the lace is what makes this dress so gorgeous and its not old lady at all, its classic. I think you would look great in it

I think it looks beautiful as is, but you could easily make it sweetheart if it makes you more comfortable. It definitely doesn't look 'old maid.' It looks classy. Huge difference!

I love the dress and that kind of style in general! I would leave it, it isn't old maidy at all.
A 2010 bride, Cappygirl had a dress with the same 'feel' and it is honestly one of my favorites on this site. I would totally get a dress like that but I feel like my arms won't do it justice.
