Suggestions on outdoor reception

Hi,
I just recently signed on to this service and was hoping to maybe get some suggestions on where to have an outdoor ceremony in a garden setting and to do an outdoor reception under a tent. Anyone have any good suggestions where I might find the perfect setting.

Thanks for any input.

Welcome Kirstin! This Board will definitely help you and offer a lot of suggestions. It sounds like this is not what you are looking for, but I tell everyone wanting an outdoor wedding to check out the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling College in Oakdale. (i am sooo biased) They have a beautiful courtyard for outdoor ceremony, plus they have a beautiful backup spot for indoor as well. IT is an old mansion. then the reception is usually inside in the mansion. The food is incredible and Lovin Oven is an awesome caterer. But this may not be what you want (since it sounds like you want the reception outdoor too). IF you are at all interested FM me.
Good luck!!!!!

Where do you want to hold it? How many guests? What is your budget?

You might try the Nassau County Museum of Art...they have a beautiful garden that is often used as an outdoor 'chapel' for wedding ceremonies and you can have your reception under a tent that is attached to their facility. Very unique venue!
Here's a link: Nassau County Museum of Art

Philip Stone Caterers is a preferred caterer for the facility:

Re: Suggestions on outdoor reception

Hi Kirstin,

I had an outdoor cermony and reception. What I did was rent a mansion in Southampton for a week. It was awesome! There were 8 bedrooms so my fiance and I and both are families had their own rooms and we stayed there for half a week and at the end of the week we had the wedding. So it was really nice, we all got to hang out together, sit by the pool, have all our meals together, etc. We got married by the gazebo in the garden and had the dinner and reception around the pool and on the deck of the house. It was beautiful. Forum mail me if you want more details. Here are some pics.

Re: Suggestions on outdoor reception

Thank you so much for all of the suggestions. I do appreciate the information. I would love to know more about the mansion out in the hamptons. I also like the pictures from the Nassau location.
I never even thought about having a back up plan in case of inclement weather. I figured that erecting a tent for the reception would be sufficiant but did'nt even think about the ceremony.
I am having about 300 guests and am working with a nice size budget so I am not to worried about these factors. My first step I guess is finding the perfect location. I guess if I go with a venue like the Vanderbilt mansion I would want it to have a sprawling lawn and heavily flowered gardens (I love lots of flowers).
I guess I need to 'hit the pavement' so they say. Keep the suggestions coming. I really do appreciate them.
