Anyone have a reputable florist on line they have used to send flowers to a wake? Is 1800 flowers the best? Thanks

Re: Suggestions PLease
1-800 Flowers is always good but can I make a suggestion (having just gone through the wake thing with my mom) Send a plant instead of flowers or even a basket of cookies or yummy treats to the house. Davis Cookies has good ones. The flowers go to waste. They only let you bring so many to the cemetary and hospitals don't accept them anymore. We had well over a hundred arrangements that we had to throw out
I still have a plant that someone sent and I always think of mom when I see it

I don't know about for funerals, but I really like proflowers.com
We have plants from my grandfathers funeral, and Jenn's right. It always reminds me of him.
proflowers has plants too - I think peace lillies are popular for funerals.

I would stay away from 1-800-Flowers. My experiences with them have all been bad.

Would I send the plants to the funeral parlor or the house?

Re: Suggestions PLease
I would also suggest sending a nice plant to the funeral home. When my (step-)father passed away people sent a few plants and it was nice b/c my mother, step-sister and I each got one. It's a nice reminder of my father. Also, they won't wilt during the wake and won't get thrown away.

I agree with Jen as well. There ends up being so many flowers, and they go to waste. The plants or cookies, etc are such a great idea.

Jodi you can send it to the house or funeral home. Maybe a nice african violet They have the most beautiful flowers and bloom constantly.
Even the cookie baskets we got. (the fruit ones always seems to go to waste) but the cookies we ate and were very comforting.

or you can make a tray of lasagna, or chicken or something and bring it to the family. One less thing they will have to worry about doing

Re: Suggestions PLease
I avoid 1800 flowers and just go to the yellow pages and order from a local florist in their neighborhood or call the funeral home and ask who they use..

Re: Suggestions PLease
I HATE 1-800 flowers. Flowers die super quick and they are very high priced. I would use a local florist. Just do a yahoo.com yellow pages search.

I've heard bad things about 1800 flowers also. I would definately go to a local florist.
