Sunday QOTD!!!

Sunday QOTD!!!

Well, I'm a bit late today, I just woke up about an hour ago. Ooops. The stress of dealing with 11 women confined in a small room yesterday must have taken a lot out of me.

So what, if anything, have you had to compromise with your wedding? Either something that you didn't want that you MUST have or do, either from family pressure or FH, or something that YOU really wanted, but just simply couldn't afford.

For me, the biggest compromise is having children at the wedding. Warm and fuzzy, I am not. But FILs are paying a good portion of the RH cost, so unfortunately I am not in the position to dictate the guest list. It just bothers me a lot that FMIL is insisting that she has to invite her cousin's children, so like third and fourth cousins to FH, most of whom he hasn't seen in 10-15 years, and there's quite a few 'Have I even met this guy???' being thrown about. It's gotten to the ridiculous point that my father isn't even inviting his own first cousins, who are adults, because so many invite slots had to be given to children. It pisses me off, because I'm the bride, and it's like I'm only allowed to have 20 people I actually know at my own wedding.

Other than the children, other compromises have been minimal, and won't affect the guests, just I'm sure as the planning progresses my RH will make many DIY and personal touches difficult for me, since they don't seem to allow ANYTHING. But, that was the compromise of having good food and a pretty location...as long as the guests have a good meal and a pleasant atmosphere, we were willing to put up with some grief.

So, vent away!

The thing I've had to compromise most on was the dj v. band issue. I really really really wanted a bad. FH prefers a dj. I lost the argument. I'm still not happy about it, but we have compromised in that we're having a piano player for the CH. I am still mad I'm not getting a band though.........

I actually wanted to have chicken and fish options at the wedding just so i wouldnt hear bitching from hard to please meat eating guests. FH didnt want to hear it. He convinced me that we cant put our morals to the side for a day and that he wouldnt be able to look at himself in the mirror if he was paying for other people to eat meat.

A little dramatic but i was convinced. oh well. There will be plenty of cheese though!

I had to compromise my saturday night wedding I was dead set against it but when I went to Villa Lombardi's and they told me the price difference between a sat. night and a sunday afternoon I gave in to a sunday afternoon wedding because I had to have it there!

I compromised most on inviting people for my mom's sake. She said it would be a social disaster for her if I didn't invite certain people to certain wedding-related events (such as bridal shower and rehearsel dinner), so I did.

But she paid for most of the wedding so I kept my mouth shut after a small number of protests.

Honestly, I havent really had to compromise much. FH pretty much gave me the green light when it came to picking things that I wanted.... I wanted him make decisions with me as well...so he said what he liked and didnt like. I want to be a princess and he's letting it all come true. lol Paying for it on our own is tough- but we are willing to do it We are having a boy/girl bridal shower since we didnt have an engagment party since we planned to get married within a year of our engagement. I think its a great idea bc I would want FH to be there and celebrate with his boys and I can celebrate with my ladies at the same time

I think the hardest compromise has been cutting back from the grand dream I had. I don't want to sound snobby, but we are all pretty honest here. My dad had a lot of money back when i was in college, his company was at its hay day and my mom and I always dreamed big for my wedding. Now that my dad's company is almost gone its very hard to compromise and cut back from the dreams we had. Its still going to be grand, but a lot of the things we had always planned on had to get cut. But as hard as it is for me its much harder for my mom who has been dreaming of this forever. Between that and fear of the future she really has been to depressed to do to much planning altogether. So I guess thats the hardest thing for me, not having my mom involved the way I always thought she would be, sitting down at the table and being creative together, with her being herself. My dad has been great and stepped in and been so amazingly involved, but its not the wedding planning I thought it would be.

Ooh now I am crying. OK have to stop writing now.

The only thing is doing it in the summer. We got a great price we couldnt pass up and really wanted a fall wedding.

Like, Gina, I'm glad to say we haven't had to compromise on anything yet.
We actually have saved enough $$ that we almost have the cost of the entire wedding covered, and its still 8 months away. Thankfully.

The only compromises I can forsee possibly happening is the guest list and inviting parents friends who we barely know. And thats minor. And we decided not to make a big deal over that.

I guess I had to compromise to give up the cigar servers and the photo booth...just simply wasn't in our budget.... so it's the things we didn't NEED so to speak..so OUT they went. LOL... But to think how AWESOME it would have been....

I wanted a September wedding but my uncle got married in October this year and I didn't want to wait ANOTHER year to get married just so it could be September.

The only other thing was the photographer. I am happy with our choice but my parents went with me to another photog appointment and were really excited about the guy and I was too - I wanted to go with that photo but FH really really wanted the photographer we went with so he got his way for that one.

mine would be for after the wedding. We are being given an apt to start our lives in together, but we cant have cats. I had 2. I had to give away my kitten, actualy this morning, (cried all day) So my compromise, was having to give up my kitten for an apt. I am having second thoughts, thinking i would jst go rent us an apt instead of accepting this one. Im just very upset right now, i know im venting.

Re: Sunday QOTD!!!

My biggest compromises were that i wanted a saturday night wedding, but instead i got the place i wanted on a sunday afternoon. also my MOH, my mother made me choose my sister closest in age to me but we dont really get along and shes so damn difficult and NO help

there are little things that i was voted out on such as my photobooth, Cigar server (might still have one!! shh), DIY invites and flowers... apparently I am spending too much (of my own!) money.

I'm compromising on having his mom there....LMAO!!!

Seriously though we had to cut the guest list because of some $$$ issues, and it was a major cut, but that was really it.

I wanted to get married in Mexico-FH said NO WAY!! So I agreed to have His Big Fat Italian/Puerto Rican Wedding and he's being an angle by letting me do whatever I want.
