Re: Super Bowl Menu's??

We decided not to have one, but this is what I would have had:

1. Made some buffalo wings w/blue cheese dip
2. chicken tenders/fingers
3.chips/dips
4.would have made some rice and a ziti
5.cheese-cracker platter
6.veggie platter
7.shrimp platter
8.Those Costco h'ordeurves
9.fruit platter

I would then for dessert have some cookies and cakes.

My husband says I am over the top when it comes to GTG's , I always have too much food, but I am of the belief that I want my guests to be comfortable and satisfied.

I'm making that seven layer dip, we're buying wings from the place down the street from us, and then I'm making sausage & peppers and a bunch of meatballs for people to make heros. I'm also going to make a greek orzo salad, and possibly FH's aunt's famous cajun seafood chowder.

K- I always say it better to have alot of food than to have hardly any. I like leftovers anyways.

Yeah, I'm always paranoid that I'll run out of food. How embarrassing would that be?

big Hero
Veggies & dip
spicy buffalo wings
pretzels chips etc
Mexican dip:

Put a layer of cream cheese on the bottom of a glass microwavable bowl

Then add a layer of salsa

Then add shredded taco cheese on top

Microwave for 2 minutes & mmmmm. It's always been a huge hit!

I'm so happy to see this thread! FH and I were going to have a party, but someone else is having it instead (they have a house and it'll be so much better than our apt). Anyway, last night we were talking about the 'typical' Super Bowl food. Around here its pizza (which is horrible. There is no such thing as a 'real pizza place' besides Pizza Hut!), but I always think of a lot of h'ordeurves (sp?), sausage and peppers, a big hero, and stuff like that. I want to take pigs in a blanket, but no one around here even knows what that is!!! I think I'll enlighten them!

Oh my goodness - where are you? I can relate to the bad pizza thing - it's very hard to find good pizza, bagels, deli food, Italian food, etc, here in Viriginia.......

Re: Super Bowl Menu's??

I'm bringing my famous football cake to a friends this year. It is so easy to make.

make two 9inch round cakes (whatever flavor you want)

make 2 small boxes of Jello pudding with only 1/2 the milk on the directions (again whatever flavor)

put the pudding in the middle of the two layers of cake

Cut a strip of the cake away from the middle about 2-2 1/2 inches think (you should now have two D shape cakes)

Push the two D's together and ice with choc Frosting and decorate with white gel icing to make the laces.
It honestly seems more complicated than it is.

Re: Super Bowl Menu's??

We're just having a friend over because I'm not feeling all that well (I just had my wisdom tooth removed) and I'm on all this medication.

Basically, I'm serving:

white bean, cheddar, and bacon dip with crudite
homemade pizza
chili with rice
cornbread
some sort of dessert

We'll also have beer, though I'm limited to warm water. But it should be fun nonetheless.
