Awwwwwww, maybe you can figure something out just for a weekend and take a bigger trip later. We're thinking of doing that. WE think it'll be nice to use the vacation time after the wedding to continue to set up our home since we don't live together yet anyway, and just get acclamated to each other int he same living space full time. You'll work something out

Re: super bummed..
can you knock down something else in your budget? thats what im doing - i drop the lighting, harpist and doing high and low centerpieces.. I know what you mean but try and scale back in some areas (if feasible) to make it work.
for us, the honeymoon is more important than all the extras.

Why don't you plan for a HM a few month or so after the wedding? FH and I are actually not even taking our official HM until Jan 2012 and that's 8 months after our wedding. I'm not going to have enough vacation days left for us to take one next year so that's why we are doing it that way.
And if you want to get away for a few days after the wedding - just the two of you - have a mini moon somewhere close, like Rhode Island or The Poconos or some kind of bed and breakfast.

what about the whole mini-moon idea. We are going to take just a few days somewhere and a bigger honeymoon within a few months.

So far it sounds like we're just going to have to postpone the wedding. There isnt anything that we CAN cut out of the wedding without losing something important =/. GOSH, I NEED ANOTHER JOB!

Do you mean you have to postpone the honeymoon or the wedding itself? Youll have some money after the wedding to book a honeymoon right?

Re: super bummed..
remember, you'll get monetary gifts at the wedding, so maybe you can use a small portion of that to go somewhere? even if its a minimoon

Postpone the honeymoon, and yes we'll have some money but that is going to pay off our bills and down payment towards a house

How about a weekend getaway somewhere? A friend of mine did this - they went to a really cute place, spent the weekend there, and now almost a year later, they're taking their honeymoon.

Awww sorry. My friends only had a budget of 6k when they had their wedding and they couldn't afford a honeymoon right away so they spent the weekend in Atlantic City bc they got married in the fall so it was cheap and went on their honeymoon on their one year anniversary which just happened. You can always do something like that

my gf did her honeymoon like 2 weeks ago and she was married in July so you can def postpone...who know you may get more cash gifts than you think and can use that towards a honeymoon!

Re: super bummed..
Oh no, you can definitely have a minimoon!! Maybe like a nice extended weekend getaway. There are so many nice B&Bs upstate in wine country or in CT. I think you can definitely get a nice weekend getaway. Check out this website below that I look at form time to time. The good thing about B&Bs is the some will provide breakfast and usually afternoon tea so it may help save money on meals...We will definitely find you something romatic and affordable :) You deserve it!!!!
