Today's fun (a voicemail on my cell, when I chose not to answer it):
FMIL: 'Hey, I know you don't know about this yet, but your shower is August 5th. Isn't that EARLYYY?!?!? Your mother and sister are out of their minds. At least Ciro's has good food. Let me know if you want me to do anything.'
So I now know the date AND location of my 'SURPRISE SHOWER'.
I can't let my family know - they'll be so hurt.
It is a bit early for my shower, but I know they were trying to plan it for before my cousin (that I'm close with) goes off to college...and one of my BM is in another wedding in August, and we have 2 weddings to attend in Sept, so I guess there was really no other option.
I'm so hurt...I can't believe she did this to me

i hate to say this... but it seems like she did this with the intention of hurting you. from what you have said in the past, this is the kind of person she is. you are right that you shouldn't let on that you know, because i think if your mom found out, she would be even more hurt than you. i am so sorry she is doing this to you - but know that your are marrying the man of your dreams and your best friend. even with this FMIL - he is worth it!!

Whooaaaa.... That is SO mean...i know how hard this is for you to deal with by yourself but i dont think i would tell your mom and family b/c that would just make them really upset which inturn would make you even more upset. I would play it off as nothing happened (as hard as it is i know) and just smile your way through this thing and enjoy your shower even thought she spoiled the surprise. Your FMIL is just plain evil

Thats soooo wrong! I;m so sorry she ruined the surprise. I would tell her that it was supposed to be a surprise so don't mention it to ur family that she told u. Maybe that'll make her feel a little bad.

Wow. What a *****. Seriously. Why would anyone do that, except to be a *****? Would she just go totally off the rails if you asked her why she told you the date of your surprise bridal shower? She said she knew you didn't know the date, so therefore she knew it was a surprise, and she deliberately ruined it. Could you ask her flat out, 'Why did you deliberately ruin the surprise of my shower?'
And, yes, I think you should tell your mother and sister. There is a lot of time--maybe they can change the date. Maybe there was a second date they decided against. And maybe THIS time they shouldn't invite your FMiL.
