SUV' s , Running Boards, and an almost accident....

Just spent the whole day with a messed up Chevy Blazer. MY fH and I deceided since I was feeling better (sore throat and allergies) to try to get out for a few hours, we both are fatherless and did not want to sit home. We got on the SS pkwy and Fh tire blew out as we were going 60 MPH, thank the lord we were in the slow lane and were able to contain it, but it turns out the running boards were not installed correctly, which created friction against the tire and cuased a blow out. Fh got out of the car and made sure I was okay, he kicked it a few times and cursed a bit, and then we called AAA, they do not go on parkways so we had to get off the parkway with bits of tire going all over the place, were not in a good neighborhood, called AAA, and waited for them to come, they came, and AAA guy took us all over the place, he was hungry, we had to go back to Brookllyn to tow car to his mechanic, and get his other car, this was his work car. We are okay, I took the brunt of it, and am very sore and in a lot of pain in my back. Please whoever has running boards on there SUV make sur e the tires are okay, I wuld not want this to happen to anyone else. To top it all off the people we were going to see, a frie nds sisters house said our story sounded outlandish! We never ever ever lie and this is the way we are treated!!! We are beyond angry and refuse to talk to them , they are knocked off the wedding guest list. We are just happy to be alive and walk away from it all.

I agree, we are furious and bnever want to talk to them again!!!! To top it all off we were going there for brunch and we have not eaten yet either!

I'm sorry about what happened. I'm glad you are both ok. I agree that your friends were rude to think you made up the story and not even concerned about the two of you.

And those 'friends' that is very rude of them. They should be more concerned that you are ok.

also FYI to all girls (this I know b/c FI used to tow for the marshall) ONLY certain tow companies are allowed on the parkways. They have contracts with the city. SO if you need a tow and want a private company to do it, get your car off the parkway and at least 50 feet off the ramp.

If you are on the cross island, only Jamaica towing is allowed to tow you, if you are on the belt only a certain tow company is allowed to tow you, etc...

thank goodness you are ok! thats crazy - now i will have to have fh check his running bd.....he got them with his car though so they re factory installed but still....

omg i think i was behind you today. did this happen near exit 19 on the SS??? my fi was merging onto the SS from the meadowbrook and we saw this truck with a blown out right front tire! was that you???
