Swimming for exercise - but need bathing cap
I went to 2 storesNo one makes those horrible bathing caps that keep your hair dry - the kind you wore when you were little...
Now they have tight fitting one which got my hair wet anyway -
Does anyone here swim for exercise? Can you suggest a cap that will keep my hair dry? It's already damaged from coloring it - don't want to ruin it more w/ chlorine.
Thanks!

i bought one from TYRit's silicon and was sooo tight - but my hair was still kind of damp
i took a shower and deep conditioned as soon as I got home...was wondering if anyone could recommend one
i didn't see any breakage at all

Re: Swimming for exercise - but need bathing cap
Coming from a loooooooong time competitive swimmer/lifeguard/excerciser... there really is no cap out there that completely keeps your hair dry. I actually used to wear 2 caps sometimes, one silk, and then cover my head with the rubber or silicone one- but water will always seep in.Since I used to practice 2X a day, and I'm a freak about my hair- I used spray conditioner (Pantene Pro-V) I would spray my hair down then put on the cap, and the conditioner would protect it. The conditioner actually helps with sliding the cap on! (can you still believe I have like 2 bottles floating around from college?)
So that's my advice. (from the expert that I am
)May I ask where do you swim??? I've been telling DH that I desperately need to get back to the pool.

Re: Swimming for exercise - but need bathing cap
I don't think that swim caps are meant to keep your hair dry anyway. If you watch Olympic swimming, they always wet their hair before putting the cap on. It's just to protect the filter in the pool so that people's hair doesn't get caught it in. Also, with competitive swimmers it helps to eliminate friction, making them go faster.I used to work in Plaza Sports in Rocky Point and we always had them. There's another in Centereach. where are you based?

Re: Swimming for exercise - but need bathing cap
that's what i keep on hearing that they don't keep your hair drythat's okay - i'll do the conditioner thing b/c i did read about that - it'll be easier to put that tight little cap on!!
I had herniated disc surgery last year and a week b/f my wedding I found out that it popped out again - though I am feeling alot better than I was & hope that it's getting better b/s surgery is always a last option...
so swimming is great for that - I got to the local gym in Great Neck they have a little pool, but it's good so far - no one uses it except for seniors & me!!
