According to the after the show link, Oprah staffers conducted a 4 month investigation. They had a few couples on the show that talked about how they got into 'the Lifestyle'
The conclusion a 3 year documentary filmmaker came to is that swingers have strong marriages to be able to swing

I saw that. IMO its disgusting - but thats just me. Why do people remain married if you want to sleep with other people?

Re: Swingers
i think if the couple is ok with it and they both have an 'agreement', then why not? i know i will probably get flamed for this, but that is how i feel. i personally wouldnt be able to do.

I saw it also and was pretty shocked by it. I agree that they can do what they want, but I just think you need to be careful what you do when you have children at home..... esp. teenagers.

Hey! Whatever your into. Who am I to judge someone. If they keep it free of diseases and they have strong marriages then good for them. It's better than having to stay in an unhappy marriage bc everytime you try to leave your husband beats you to a pulp.

Nope - I agree - marriage means different things to different people - some of them may have happier mariages than others who don't swing and just cheat on each other....
I personally couldn't do it - I just find no one else hotter than DH - and I could NEVER watch him getting busy with anyone else!!!

I have to agree, call me old-fashioned, but whats the point of agreeing to a monogamous union if you are going to sleep around? Isn't the whole point of marriage an agreement to be exclusive with one another in and out of bed?
And how could one partner 'swing' knowing that their spouse is also getting it on with someone else? It's just so twisted. I'm with you lipglossjunky73, I too love my FH too much to watch him getting it on with someone else. :D

Re: Swingers
I kinda see that as cheeting. If you get married you stay with the same partner. If you want another partner you get divorced or stay single, no? I really can't call that marriage strong. A strong marriage, in my book, as the kind of connection that you can only get w/ that one person, trust, loyalty...

Personally, no. I know that's harsh, but I can not trust someone after they cheat. I would always have that question in my head. Plus, depeding on how far it goes, then that person makes you suseptable to all sorts of diseases...no thanks! I have always said...I would never leave my husband except for 3 reasons:
-Lying (about something important, and more then once) -Cheating -Beating
Some can forgive though. I have a very strict policy on it.

That is what I don't get. The whole 'swinging' thing really confuses me. But I'm finding out that more people are into it than you think
NO WAY for me and my FH

Yes, but it would depend on the circumstances and they would get ONE and ONLY one more chance. One of my exes and I went through this and we actually had a stronger more trusting relationship AFTER. He's my ex now for other reasons, but I think until you've gone though it you can't say yes or no - people are quick to say 'NO WAY, I'd leave him' but once you're in the situation it's different.

Re: Swingers
I didn't see this episode, but I saw something on it on VH1 (why VH1 is beyond me, but every now and again they feel they need to prove their worth with some weird 'news special'....whatever I like you for your music!), but it amazed me! 2 couples having s ex with eachother in the same bed!! And they showed a swinger party -
But the couples were saying that their relationship is stronger, or even survived, because of it. Hey to each his own....if it works for you and all the people involved are happy and healthy, then great! I could just never do it myself.
