swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

sooooo apparently i have now been blessed with big arse cystic zits along my jawline...and wel with a wedding coming up... i need an emergency plan. i have heard you can go to a dermatologist and have them inject something in a pimple to kill it quickly..... has anyone done this? does it work? how much does it cost? and will derm's take you as an emergency ie..the day before a wedding....??

thanks!!!!!!!

my friend got it done and yes it worked - I think it's liek $75 or something, but it should work. tell your derm it is an emergency and they should take you!

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

I've had many - sad to say. Insurance covers if you go to a dermatologist. It's a shot of cortizone - works wonders. Zit is gone in about 24 hours.

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

I had it done once a number of years ago (the darn things came out of nowhere thanks to graduation day stress!). It was definitely an 'I need an appointment NOW' type thing. The shots stung a bit but it worked wonders! (Unfortunately I don't remember the cost.) Good luck!

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

Yes, I have had it done about a day before my sister's wedding.
I don't remember the pain from the shot at all...I was just so grateful that the dermatologist took me w/out an appointment.

They do it all the time and the minute I said the word 'wedding', they understood.

The cost was about what others have mentioned, but a big part of it was covered by my insurance.

It took a while to 'go down'...about a full day. So don't be surprised if you don't see results right away.

I highly recommend the cortizone shot.

Whoever booked the appointment for the day before the big day is smart. I am stealing that idea and doing the same for my other sister's wedding coming up this fall.

:)

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

I've had it done. My derm told me that I don;t need an appointment because it only takes a minute.

It does that acouple of days for the zit to disappear, but you will see it shrinking immediately.

PS- Your insurance covers it!!

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

I've had them done before - they come from hormone fluctuations and stress (ha! thats quite a combo). I have noticed i get them less now that i am no longer taking the Pill. it doesn't hurt and the results are good.

Does anyone know of a good derm in Brooklyn? thanks

Re: swr- anyone gone to dermatologist to inject a zit?

I've never had it done, but one of my BMs told me to schedule an appointment a day or two before my wedding as a safety.

Dr. Biro in Bay Ridge - the father and son are both at the office. They're both really good but I prefer going to his son.
