I have had 3 cousins get married in the last 3 yrs. and they are all divorced already. One was with her husband for 7 yrs. before they got married and their marriage only lasted 6 months. It's very scary thinking about it!

I have two friends that are divorced.
Neither one was a messy divorce and thank goodness none of them had kids.

My FH is divorced.... so I am pretty happy about that. One of my close friend's is also divorced. My FH was married 16 years, my friend was married 11. I'm 33, and most of my close friends are not married.

none for me- but FH has two good friends from college- one in the wedding party getting a divorce- they were together for about 9 years and got married almost 2 years ago and are getting divorced- no kids thank goodness!!

One of our friends is getting divorced after 4 years. Its been horrible. He was cheating on her with MULTIPLE people the whole time and we knew and couldnt say a word. They decided to have a kid to try to save their marriage and wound up calling it quits when the baby was 5 months old. (We all knew this was a horrible idea- please dont anyone ever try to save a marriage with a kid!!!)
Its been very messy ever since and we hardly ever see either one of them anymore. We can't even invite her to the wedding because they dont get along at all and he is planning on bringing his new gf to our wedding.

Both FH and myself are divorced from a previous marriage and like Kittythestray we are both happy about that. LOL.
My parents are divorced. My boss is in her 2nd marriage. My co-worker's divorce is official today.
I believe the divorce rate is now 59% of the population (more than half the population).

I know it can seem staggering when you look at the divorce rate, but so many couples should not get married in the first place. Also, too many couples give up because it's so easy to get a divorce. Marriage is HARD, and if you're not willing to put in the work it won't work. We live in a very disposable society and are used to things being easy and convenient. I think it’s important to go into your marriage knowing that you need to work hard and make sacrifices, and KNOW that you chose someone who will do the same.

My parents are divorced and both remarried. My brother is divorced. FH's sister is divorced. My MOH is divorced and remarried. Plus I have a few friends who are divorced.
FH and I have agreed that divorce does not exsist in our vocabulary. Whatever struggles we encounter or upset we feel, we will do whatever it takes to work it out. We have always communicated very well and feel that no matter what curveballs life throws us we can/will work through them.

Only one of my friends is divorced. That was a TERRIBLE divorce. There were major money issues and kid issues which have not stopped and never will.
DH has one divorced friend and that was a very simple divorce.
Most of our friends are happily married.

My brother is going through a pretty nasty divorce right now. FH is divorced, he has been for quite awhile now. I have another friend who is older, she was divorced for quite awhile, but she got remarried 2 years ago

None of my friends actually... i think too many people go into marriage without realizing what a HUGE commitment it really is...some people don't realize how much work it really is... and some people just completely forget their vows and do the unforgiveable. it's a shame....
