I think that it's just a huge expense. Many times people don't bother taking picks with the table cameras, and when they do, they snap without even trying to take a nice pictures. Also, you need to develop all those pictures. I found that most people take pics with their own cameras and give you the proofs anyway.

Yea, why not! You can get them real cheap... like $5/camera so if we get 20 of them it would only be $100. What's $100 against a few thousand anyway??????
Keep in mind how much it would cost to DEVELOP all the film, too.
I don't think I will get them because of the cost and I haven't heard great things about the quality and who knows what people will take pictures of. I will probably just rely on the friends and family that bring their cameras to pass along any good shots they take!
Yup, it will probably cost another $100 to develop it... but to me it's definitely worth it. My friend had about 15 cameras at her wedding last year and she has a whole book of all the pics that were taken. They are priceless!!! I'd say about half of them were blurry, cut-off, etc.. but it's worth it to get those few good ones. Like someone else said, you can never have enough pics of your wedding! JMO!!!

Re: Table Cameras (poll)
One of the DJ's I'm considering actually supplies the table cameras, and he collects them and gets them developed for me.
But i don't plan on having them (unless they're free - sort of).
I just remember my grandfather taking pictures with the table camera at my cousins wedding. He took a picture of his empty plate. Then one of the fork, knife and of the spoon separately. Then he took one of his dinner before he ate it. One while he was eating it and then when he was done. Then came the cake and coffee. Which he took a picture of as well.
And so on. It was funny to us, but probably not to my cousin!
So I won't be using the cameras, if i can help it!

Sorry to post on your board but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents! After many discussions we decided to do table cameras and I have to say as reluctant as I was about them, now I am glad we did. We ended up with some really great pics from them.
Even though we ended up with over 1000 proofs from our photo, there were still some pics that they missed. Your photographer will concentrate mainly on you and DH, your parents and bridal party so there will be pics that they miss.
We got ours on sale at walmart for under $3 per camera for 27 exposure 800 speed film w/ flash. If you take them back to walmart they develop them pretty cheap. It cost less than $100 for cameras and dev.
While I was against them at first, I recommend doing them if you are up in the air about it. You will get some really great shots. You can get ones with the fewest exposures and just have them developed and an index print done. You don't even have to have them all printed, only the ones that you like!
Sorry to be so long winded! Good luck with whatever you decide!

Re: Table Cameras (poll)
We will have them. My brother and SIL had them. They got married in cape cod and their photog STUNK. basically, their only pics are from the table cameras. THe pictures are pretty good, however my brother's buddies refused to hand over the camera they had hijacked. He still doesn't know what they took with it!
My other brother had them as well, had a great photog at Russo's, and they also have great pics from the table cameras.
They put stickers on the cameras that said something like take pics and leave on the table at the end of the night..... I am pretty sure they got them all back.

At my MOH's wedding this past summer, I was in charge of 'picking up' the cameras at the end of the night.
I went around and couldn't find a couple. But I ended up getting 9 out of 12. Out of those 9, there was one camera with no pics taken and a FEW (4 or so) with maybe 2-3 pics taken. I ended up walking around and taking pics of the 'details' at the end of the night (the table arrangement, the sweetheart table, the scary DJ, etc.) just so that there would be a reason to develop.
I have 30 tables - so that's a lot of money right there. I think FH wants to do them, but I know someone posted that they had a sign on it that said 'take xxx pics and pass it to the next table' so that the cameras made their way around.
I know when I go to a wedding, I take charge with that camera. First, I take a pic of the table number so they know where it came from and then I take pics of everything - and detail shots since I love that.
My FH often takes pics of the food (just like someone's grandpa!) -- they come out pretty funny - but also interesting.
But I think we are undecided on this. I like the idea of getting half the cameras and then 'passing' them around.
