Ok first off I know it's bad for you, but is it really that bad if we just do it to preparee for the wedding? I'm afraid to do the airbrush and then go on a honeymoon where we will be at beaches and in pools? What do you all think?

Re: Tanning
i am usually 100% against tanning (my dad died of cancer, i had a pre-cancerous mole removed) but i do go out in the sun during the summer....
to prep for the wedding i am going to tan for the month of july and august...right before the wedding i am going to get an airbrush to cover any tan lines that may have occured as a result of being on the boat all summer!

FH is a doctor and does nothing that is hazardous to his health but he does go tanning every now and then... being in the sun summer after summer is really whats dangerous but just enough tanning to look good for your wedding wont hurt you... go to the dermatologist for a yearly check up and youll be fine!

Re: Tanning
Thanks ladies, now I don't feel so bad. I figure I'll start in June so that I can ease into it, I don't want to look like a cheese doodle

Re: Tanning
I don't tan at salons, only because by the time you go long enough to get a tan in a booth, you have gone long enough to cause wrinkles.
Your wedding is in the summer so you'll have plently of time to get some great color outside prior to your wedding. And if you wear advanced sunscreen you can get a nice base tan while blocking the rays that will eventually cause wrinkles!

So what do people recommend to ease into it for a wedding July 18th. I am Irish and I def. get color, but also easily burn.

Re: Tanning
Since you are getting married at the end of AUgust I would just say tan naturally in the sun but do it safely....do it little by little and wear sunblock...but please stay out of the tanning salons...it is so bad!

Re: Tanning
I used to tan in college but I can see how it ages others fast. My friends who still tan have a lot more wrinkels even at our young age. My derm. is very very against it and my mother had skin cancer but I do want to be tan for the wedding. I'm thinking of trying out spray tan before the wedding. I sit out in the sun as well (w/ sunscreen) but the effects of a tanning booth don't even compare. I'm hoping the weather gets much nicer before May comes around.

I'm sorry, I have to say something --
PLEASE do not go tanning. Tanning will hurt you. Even if you don't care about cancer (all it takes is one bad mole, guys) think about the premature wrinkles. I am not telling you to never go in the sun, I like to go to the beach myself, but I do it with sunblock on. Being in the sun summer after summer is dangerous if you sit there and bake with no sunblock on. How many people wear sunblock when they hit a tanning bed? Sort of defeats the purpose of going tanning. Please don't do it. I didn't tan at all before my wedding and I looked great. I used a touch of neutrogena spray on tan on my arms and chest, my makeup artist evened out the color with airbrush, and nothing bad at all happened on my HM.

Re: Tanning
I am against it. I had melanoma that started in the mole but never spread. It's not good for you!!!!!! Now I go for routine checkups because I am prone to these. Oh, and the fact that you may be a certain background doesn't matter. I am Cuban and Italian and I have to be very careful. Be careful girls. Plus, you want to be good to your skin!
