Tanning to get SLIGHT color for the wedding?

Tanning to get SLIGHT color for the wedding?

I had some nice color on my arms this summer. It's starting to fade and I just want to maintain what I have for the wedding and fix some tan lines. If I go tanning once a week starting 30 days before the wedding, is that enough? How long should I tan for so that I do not get burned? 5 mins? I DO NOT want to be brown, just a nice light tan color.

I also have some psoriasis and I figure this will help it!!!!

Jen, I am looking into this too...they told me between 5 and 8 minutes depending on your skin tone now...

Honestly... I would sit outside for a little while to get some of that color back. It can be warm out well into Oct. so if you just sit outside and read for a half our to get some color on your arms and shoulders that should do the trick

I would love to do this. I just don't have the time! I might have time to go to the beach on Saturday or Sunday. My backyard is a great place for this, but we have so many mosquitos I get 4 bites in 15 minutes. NOT WORTH IT!

Even if I have the time NOW, I don't think I will when the wedding gets closer ...

I am going to try the Neurtogena micro mist tanning

edit: Is a sunless tanner spray. A co-worker uses it and says he goes and works out after and it never comes off on his clothes :)

I am very pale, and used one coat of Jergens lotion w/ gradual tanner and i had a nice even color for the wedding, still natural, but just didnt make me look like death.

i found that i look tanner in my non-pro pictures (boo!) but a substantial difference from a picture at my friend's wedding 2 weeks earlier.

i'd say try out the jergens first--- it shows up next day and is gone in like 3 days if you dont keep reapplying, and it goes on really even since its a lotion primarily

dont do more than 8 mins. See now how long your tan lasts from one week to another when you go just once a week. Everyone is different, some last and others it fades right away. Its good youre doing it in advance bc you have time to test it out.

You can also talk to the ppl who work there. I dont know your skin tone, but they will ask you if you burn easily and let them know what kind of color you want to achieve. They'll help you out and tell you how long to do it for each time and how many times a week to do it.

I tried the jergens and I think it came out a little blotchy. But I have time, so I will try that again, maybe now until the end of sept. or so to see how I like it. I also think it smells.

i found that when i use a second coat it gets blotchy but one coat works ok for me. i also do it right after a shower and find that it comes out more even that way.

i also find that it smells, but i kind of like the smell and think it smells better than other self tanners i have used in the past

Yeah, I only used one coat too. I tried another tanner (a regular, color-after-one-use tanner) on my super-white (.)(.) and maybe that's where the blotchiness on my arm came from -- I must have rubbed.

How long did you apply it for before you noticed color?

I usually start seeing color after 3-5 hours maybe? Usually I'll put it on at night, wear loose clothing around my apt, and wake up with the full color. For my wedding I showered Sat afternoon and put on one coat of tanner, had some color by my rehearsal dinner that night, had color for the wedding, and it started fading Monday when we left for our honeymoon. I wanted to reapply in St Lucia but ended up just putting on tons of sunscreen and got burned anyway

wait, did you use the one you put on every day or was it a more instant color? the one i have you have to use for a few days in order to notice anything .... maybe we are talking about two different products ...

I would go once a week for 5 mins in a stand-up.

That is what I was thinking of doing if the jergens doesn't work.

After using a stand-up booth, I would never, ever go back to the actual beds! I used them once or twice and was hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and felt like I was in a coffin. UGH.

definitely! going tanning for the wedding was the first time i went since my senior prom and i was like WOW there are stand up beds?? and doesn't it take a lot less time? I'm tempted to keep doing it through the winter but I know it's not the greatest thing... it's just nice to not be so pasty.

Re: Tanning to get SLIGHT color for the wedding?

I did the brazil bronze a week ago on Sunday, and I still had a little color this week for my shower. I am just not sure I can fit the brazil bronze in again before the wedding with the whole waiting 6-12 hours to shower, etc.
I am using the Aveeno Radiant something lotion now and it seems to be working. I'm very inconsistent though. I remember one day not the next.

I totally agree about not being completely white like I normally am. I am so much happier with the pictures from my shower with some color compared to a wedding on 8/23 where i had NO color at all.

Is the brazil bronze a tanning bed?

Re: Tanning to get SLIGHT color for the wedding?

MikeandJess did some sort of tanner that they apply for you and her color was great- I will see if I can find the thread- looked natural, someone else makes sure its even and a lot safer than a tanning bed jmo

it was brazil bronze- here is the thread- http://www.nycityweddings.com/chat/topic.aspx?ID=544455&Highlight=tan
