TARGET REGISTRIES BEWARE!!

I work for Target and the policy with a gift registry is that if you return items that are on the registry without a receipt, you show them the registry and they will take it back and give you a gift card. This is a similar policy with any store. If it's not a registry item, and there's no receipt then you're out of luck. There really is absolutely no override that the managers can do to give you your money back. I know in other stores you can call a manager and they have some magic key or code they can enter to override the system, but Target does not. It makes it fair for everyone because there can be no exceptions. The policy has only gotten stricter in spite of consumer complaints because exceptions used to be made, but not anymore.

ive never been to target so dont know about the return policy however the whole thing that its a similar policy with any store is not true...BBB you don't need a receipt, they even give you cash back or you are able to just exchange it with no problem. Or most places ive never heard of giving you a gift card

yeah, this is totally NOT how it works there. I am on hold with corporate right now and telling them how many people (including myself) either delted their registries or won't register there because of this. I know I sound hot-headed, but i'm very upset for my sister. She's going to closing today and she doesn't need a $400 credit to target, she needs stuff and money. Obviously she can buy stuff with the credit, but who would want to shop there after this??

BBB is one of very few stores that give you cash back, but I've never been to any stores that gave me anything but a gift card if I did not have a receipt. I have gift registries at Macy's and Bloomingdales and at both stores they give you a gift card if you return items from the registry without an original receipt

i always use my macys and bloomingdales cards when i shop there, so dont know if that has anything to do with it. They usually credit it back on my card

Yeah, most stores, including Target can do credit card look up although Target can look up any major credit card, and I know at least for Macy's they can only look up your macy's card

I GUESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO THEM!!! WHAT A HASSEL.

CAN'T THEY HAVE A RETURN POLICY THAT WOULD ACCOMMODATE REGISTRIES WHEN IT'S OBVIOUS THE PERSON WON'T HAVE A RECEIPT? THEY SHOULD PUT A STICKER ON THERE THAT SAYS 'TARGET'' THAT WAY THEY KNOW IT WAS BOUGHT THERE.

Yes, that happened to my friend as well, and it was a registry for housewarming gifts.

That's crazy. I would contact Better Business Bureau and say something. That's completely wrong... Brides bring them business by opening a registry with them and this is what they do? I'd fight it with someone above the store headquarters.
