Re: Tasting ?
I absolutely demanded to have a tasting before I signed any sort o contract. Who wants to sign into a contract and then find out the food isn't that great. They invited my FI and I to come down on a Saturday during a wedding and we sat in the office and they brought us each a plate from the cocktail hour that was currently going on.

Re: Tasting ?
Haven't had our food tasting but they told us if we don't like the food he will give us our deposit back . Plus I already tasted the food at all the affairs that I have been to there. The food is AWESOME.

Re: Tasting ?
I did not have my tasting until after I signed the contract...and I just went this past Saturday for it...just a little over a month before my wedding...our tasting was fantastic!!! We got to taste most of the passed hors deveureves...had tastings of 3 appetizers and 3 dinners!!! We LOVED it all!!!!
I wasn't worried though...I know the food at the Milleridge Cottage is great...many people I know have been to weddings there.

Re: Tasting ?
we had a food tasting at one place when we were deciding, but lovin ovens has food tastings a few times a year so they usually make you wait until a few months before your wedding. we did put in our contract taht if we didnt like the food we could get a full refund but im sure i have nothing to worry about

Re: Tasting ?
Yes the rule is not to sign any contract until you taste the food....most good caterers will suggest a tasting!

Re: Tasting ?
I paid the deposit and signed the contract, but I also had them write in that my deposit was fully refundable if I did not like the food. I had my tasting the weekend after I booked. I would never have booked a place that did not let me taste their food.

Re: Tasting ?
We had ours after signing the contract... not all catering halls will give you one before you sign.

Re: Tasting ?
We had our food tasting BEFORE we signed any contract. I agree who would want to sign and then find out that the food is NO GOOD

Re: Tasting ?
Westbury Manor technically doesn't have tastings...but they have a resturant and its the same chef that prepares the food for the wedding. So we had the banquet manager arrange a reservation for dinner for my FH and my mother before we decided whether or not we wanted to sign.

Re: Tasting ?
Our first tasting was before we booked. After the tasting we sat down with the owner and discussed the prices for everything. Our second tasting was a monthor so before the wedding to choose the menu

Re: Tasting ?
We had several tastings of caterers that we were interested in. There is no fee and you DON'T need to sign a contract to reserve the reception site before the tasting. However, before you have the tasting you do need to meet with the banquet manager to discuss about what you want for the reception site. However, most tastings require an appt. with the banquet manager/banquet office and are usually done on weekdays only not weekends. So you'll probably need to take a day off from work/school.
Enjoy the tastings! It's an actual meal. We thought it was a small piece of chicken from the wedding menu but it's actually a meal.
