Puerto Ricans are not all loud, ghetto or from the Bronx.
We all dont carry pepper spray or pocketknife.

yea the loud PRican does come out of me at times and I have ALOT of family members but I also have family members that are very quiet.
I can break this Puerto Rican stereotype too -- I carry pepper spray and me and my entire family are LOUD. Dinner is who can talk over who -- not everyone stop and listen to what each other is saying!

Dec 8 is a Holy Day of Obligation, it is the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary NOT Jesus . . .
Mary was conceived in St Anne's womb with no orginal sin, so the was prepared from birth to become the mother of Jesus ( which doesnt mean she had no sin, she was just born the Original sin given to us by Adam and Eve )
so it has nothing to do with 'virginal conception'
a pet peeve of mine since the term 'immaculate conception' is used so widely
lol a little deep i know . . .

Its great that Tilde started this thread tonight, we've been discussing different cultures and their traditions in my Social Work class. We've discussed traditions in birth, child rearing, adolesence, marriage, family, taking care of the elderly and death. We spoke all about death and funeral traditions today and its very interesting to learn what all cultures do during the time of mourning.
I love learning all of this stuff!!!

Whereas the Amish are clothed in black and a few other dark colors during their lives, when they are buried, they are completely attired in white. My culture: I have two cultures: my mother gives me my italian culture and my father the hispanic). My father is from Dominican Republic, my entire Dominican family is blonde with blue eyes (except me) oddly enough my mother thru it off and her italian genes are dominant...lol. SO NOT ALL DOMINICANS LOOK HOW YOU THINK.
My dominican family consists of lawyers, accountants, detectives, and publishers., SOME OF US ARE all very educated and intelligent and AGAIN GOES AGAINST THE MISINFORMED.
Also~ NOT ALL ITALIAN MOTHERS FORCE FOOD DOWN THEIR CHILD'S MOUTH WHEN THEY ARE SAD OR UPSET EXCEPT MY MOTHER LOL

You are SOO correct, throughout my life alot of my Jewish friends would claim they are Jewish as their nationality...I still do this day have no idea what nationality my bff is because till this day she says she's 'jewish'
