Re: Teachers
Yes, Nassau school districts usually pay a little more than Suffolk, but my school district is on the lower paying end of Nassau.

Re: Teachers
It really varies depending on the district. But I think it's safe to say that the majority of school districts on LI pay more than other areas of the country.

Re: Teachers
My district is paying about 57 K with a Masters and 2 years experience... I am so fortunate...
but i am also considering moving out of state after a few years. I am in one of the best paying districts BUT... even though you make less teaching outside of LI, your property taxes, car insurance, mortgage, etc. etc. is so MUCH LOVWER than the insanity that has become living on LI. Although you'll make less, you will take home a much higher percentage of what you make.

Re: Teachers
yep, pretty much. Dh is always saying get a job out here (as if it is a 1, ,2,3 process anyway!) But I was just curious. I have tenure now and am comfortable where i work. My mom is a school nurse out here and she says things are pretty rough. A lot of the teachers and principal in her school weren't asked back for next year (this was there tenure year). THat frightens the H E L L out of me. Especially trying to buy a house and soon start to have a family. I thought the salary was a much bigger difference then in the city. From what you are saying though it really isn't.
