I'm doing my grad in Math and Science and for one of my classes I need to observe a math or science class 4 times (doesnt have to be same class or grade). But i'm working full time now and kinda just started so I cant take off to go to a school and observe a class. So i am just going to make up the observations. All i have to do is write 2 pages about the lesson and when students began to lose interest and why.
But i need to know what is being taught now... I can't find a pacing calendar for schools online.. so can someone tell me what they are teaching in either math or science right now for my first observation.. Thanks!!
ETA: I just realized if you have children can you let me know what they are doing in school in either subject! Thanks

Thanks.. I'm not sure if I could do special ed.. because then there is actually a lot more going on in the room as to why they may be losing focus. I actually have a special ed observation saved on my computer, but im thinking I wont be able to use it.. Thanks though!

Re: Teachers, or anyone with children
in second grade in sachem school district at hiawatha right now we are doing the solar system, going planet by planet, learning the basic facts. They have planet folders they made out of black construction paper and as they learn each planet they add it to their solar system on the folder.
In math they are learning money, how to count coins and dollars, what each is worth, and how to give back change, if they can buy things with x amount of money if it costs y.
any questions ask away :)

Thanks!! I'm going to look at the Ciy's math program and see what lessons the math would match up with. Do you think you can send me a lesson for the science?

I'm student teaching right now and I'm teaching the math and science units. I'm teaching 3rd grade.
In science, they're doing earth science. We just finished landforms and today we started rocks. In math, they are learning how to tell time on a clock face and they're also learning about elapsed time.
HTH!

Re: Teachers, or anyone with children
I teach fourth grade, and for science we are doing 'motion and design' where the kids build a 'standard vehicle' out of k'nex and do a whole bunch of basic tests...like force, load, etc.
in math we are doing probability....like with spinners and fractions/decimals.
