Ouch, well I wish you all the best. I work for Nassau County and some nights before I fall asleep, I wonder if my position will be affected by budget cuts.

ughh all this is soo depressing and really makes me want to cry! this should be a happy exciting year for all of us and instead its becoming a very stressful and rough year for us! :( depressing to say the least! i am a teacher myself for pre.k and i am sure i will be one to be let go if this happens! its just so sad how everything is and how hard it is to live now, its soo scary and crazy and this is everywhere! :( i really hope this gets fixed soon but i dunno cause i can see this taking years to go back to normal if even it does! :( never thought wed ever go thru this like this, its terrible and i dont even want to think about it cause this is the year we are all getting married and its suppose to be OUR year to be soo happy and how can we be?? and we just cant help it and do anything about this.. ughh, for days i have been depressed about this! :( not to even mention that FH works for his dads buisness and they have been doing really well in the last couple of years, but now of course they are very slow and not doing that great either! :( things are bad everywhere! :( i want to cry!

Awwwww I know I feel the same way.... we've worked so hard to get where we are and poof just like that.... its all gone Im still in shock, but I cant stop thinking about it- FH keeps telling me to stop worrying about it, but I just cant act like everything is okay- when people are going to keep getting layed off.... its like NO One is safe now.... I wish everyone the best & hope that we can all still be okay through these hard times. This is supposed to be a happy time for all of us, and now its just adding more stress

IF the stimulous plan does pass I hope the city budgets the money wisely otherwise we'll be in the same position again in 1-2 years. The $$ will run dry if they don't invest it to things that will create more $ for the city.

This is very scary...but I think that this was contigent of the stimulus plan NOT passing. Our union will fight this so try not to think the worst yet

Re: Teachers... We Might Lose Our Jobs Too...
I've been haering about this in my building since September. There are many excessed teachers floating around in my school and they were sent from other schools that are not even in the same region. From the looks of it and from what I understand, these teachers will have a job over the teachers who have not been in the system as long. BTW, ALL of these excessed teachers floating around ARE tenured and in some cases have been in the system for over 15 years.

I heard this too and I am working less than two years. I am hoping that my Special Ed license will help save me but if not, OH well, what can I do?!
HOPEFULLY some money comes through at the end like it always does and Bloomberg does the right thing. He is up for re-election this year and I don't think he can afford to piss off the UFT and NOT have their support!!!

No worry girls- we got 1.8 billion from washington. Going to use it so this won't happen. If have to let go saying it will be school personnel not teachers. I think it was a threat so we get the money..i wouldn't get TOO crazed about it now we got the money... Still a very scary thought!
