Can my resume be more than 1 page? When I was in school they always said that your resume shouldnt be more than a page long. HELP! Also, when should I start sending my resume out again?

I've been told at both my undergrad and grad (Manhattanville College and Molloy) that an educator's resume can be more than 1 page. Mine is a page and a half. HTH

My advisor said no more then a page and its soooo hard to keep it that short. He suggested using smaller font but still legible (i think mine is size 11) and change the margins. They are supposed to be one inch but he said they arent going to take out a ruler and measure them. Just keeping adjusting it little by little.
About when to send them, some people say like right now but the school I student taught at said they dont look at anything until May so I'm going to send them out in like March I think, early but not toooooo early.

Thanks girls! Even though I made the font a little longer its still 2 pages. I dont want to take stuff out though because then im not showing all my experience! I dont know what to do

Mine is one page... and the font is small. I also heard that principals get TONS of resumes that they dont have the time to read all of it. You have to grab their attention on the 1st page. You can use your cover letter to really get into detail about your experiences. I wouldnt send them out until the end of February because if you send them out too early, they are not going to look at them (from what I've heard). You might not hear anything from them until April and even May. Also, keep going on Olas Boces and check to see if any new positions open up. Are you going to send them through the mail or just online?

Teachers resumes are always longer than one page. You want to describe your experiences. Where are you looking?

I heard this as a rule of thumb...if you are an undergrad., it should be 1 page. If you finished grad. school, it can be 2 pages. There is no way in h@ll I would be able to squeeze it to one page.

This makes sense, I just moved up here and I've graduated grad school and taught for 8 years, 2 pages was hard.

I didnt start my masters yet but St. Joes makes you do so much fieldwork on top of regular student teaching for general and special ed!

LI, queens, catholic schools. Im subbing right now and I like it but wouldnt mind getting a perm position. Even a perm sub position would be ok with me.

yeah, it can be more. .. mine is 2 pages. . . also if you can highlight your accomplishments, if you can quanitfy any students success, anything non-required you did in your school etc. ..
I'm happy to look at yours if you want me to. . FM me for my private email. . I'm not a teacher anymore but I train teachers now and run school reform programs so have looked at a lot of resumes, qualifications etc. .
